マットな質感を湛えるブラックダイヤルには、光を抑えながら視認性を高めるハニカム状のギョシェ装飾が施されています。ロザンジュ型の針や12時位置にアラビア数字を配したバーインデックスが、クラシカルな雰囲気を漂わせつつも、全体としてはスポーティな印象。逆回転防止ベゼルを備えた厚みのあるケース構造は、防水時計らしい堅牢さと存在感を兼ね備えています。鎖で繋がれたねじ込み式のリューズプロテクターは、パシャシリーズならではの個性を象徴するディテールです。操作方法は、まずリューズに鎖でつながったねじ式のプロテクターが装備されており、これを回して外します。一般的な自動巻き時計と同様で、デイトは一段引き、時刻調整は二段引きにて行います。

ケース全体は目立つ傷が少なく、ベゼルの刻印は明瞭に保たれています。ダイヤルは経年による変色がほとんど見られず、アプライドのインデックスは、陰影に応じた美しい反射を残しています。ミニッツと針の夜光塗料は劣化なく整っています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

防水時計の先駆けとして1943年に誕生した初代パシャは、ねじ込み式リューズとチェーンによる防水機構を特徴とし、その革新性と造形美でカルティエの歴史に名を刻みました。この意匠は時を経ても継承され、Ref.1040にもその精神が色濃く表れています。厚みのある38mmケースと逆回転防止ベゼルを備えた本モデルは、堅牢さと端正さを併せ持ち、日常に溶け込みながらも確かな存在感を放つ一本です。カルティエがスポーツウォッチにおいても美学を追求した好例といえるでしょう。

BRAND

現在では、ジュエラーとして名高いカルティエですが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初でした。

COMMENT

The matte black dial features a honeycomb guilloché pattern that enhances legibility while minimizing reflection, lending the piece a refined texture. Rhombus-shaped hands and a bar index with an Arabic numeral at 12 o'clock evoke a classic aesthetic, yet the overall design conveys a sporty character. The substantial case, fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel, offers both the robustness and presence expected of a water-resistant watch. One of the defining features of the Pasha series—the screw-down crown protector attached by a chain—adds a distinctive and functional detail. To operate, first unscrew and remove the chained crown protector. The date is set by pulling the crown to the first position, and the time by pulling it to the second, as with a standard automatic watch.

The case is well preserved, with minimal surface wear and clearly legible bezel engravings. The dial shows little to no aging, retaining its original tone, while the applied indexes reflect light beautifully, adding depth. The luminous material on the hands and minute track is intact with no signs of degradation. Disassembly and cleaning have been completed by our workshop.

The original Pasha, introduced in 1943 as one of the earliest water-resistant watches, was known for its chain-secured screw-down crown and innovative design—a hallmark in Cartier's legacy. That spirit continues in the Ref. 1040, which echoes the same design language with a 38mm case and unidirectional bezel. With its balance of strength and elegance, this model exudes quiet confidence while maintaining Cartier’s commitment to aesthetic excellence, even within the sports watch category.

While now synonymous with high-end jewelry, Cartier was among the very first to develop true wristwatches at the dawn of the 20th century—well before they became mainstream. As early as 1904, the brand began crafting timepieces for the wrist, paving the way for generations of horological innovation that continue to shape Cartier's legacy today.
