ダイヤルはブラックミラー。タキメーター、テレメーター、ミニッツレイル、アワーインデックス、全てがゴールドギルトにより、精緻に配置されています。ELECTIONのブランドまでもがギルトです。ケースは当時高級素材であったステイブライトすなわちステンレススチールが採用され、ラグはスムース、防塵仕様の二重蓋構造のスクリューバックとビックプッシャーが装備されています。搭載されているValjoux 23ムーブメントは、パテック・フィリップやロレックスのプレデイトナ、またユニバーサル・ジュネーブ、ジラール・ペルゴなど、多くの名だたるブランドに採用された名機クロノグラフムーブメントです。そしてその基本設計を基に、12時間積算計を加えたValjoux 72が登場し、クロノグラフ技術の進化に大きな影響を与えました。

使用感を感じさせない、素晴らしいコンディションを保っています。ケースには目立った使用痕はなく、軽微な保管傷のみです。ケースサイドは当時のヘアラインがしっかり残り、ステップベゼルのエッジが鮮明に維持されています。ケースバックには若干の小傷がありますが、刻印が深く残っており、状態の良さをしめしています。ダイヤルは年式をパーフェクトな状態で、表面の質感に極わずかな変化がありますが、艶を残した希少なコンディションです。針はゴールドの発色をよく保ち、瑞々しい雰囲気が感じられます。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

ブラックミラーダイヤルの状態の良さと希少なビックプッシャーに目が行きがちですが、この世代特有のユニークなベゼルも見逃せません。ステップベゼルは上面がフラットで、段が直角になったシリンダーステップベゼルが特徴的です。ビックプッシャーは、ティソなどの名高いメーカーでは高額な価格がつくことが多いです。このハイスペックな仕様を、存分にまたリーズナブルに楽しめる貴重な機会です。

BRAND

かつて、世界中で多くの時計メーカーが乱立していた時代がありました。その頃、日本の為替レートは1ドル360円で固定され、輸入品は非常に高価でした。そのため、日本ではあまり知られていない時計メーカーが星の数ほど存在しています。そういった背景の中、このモデルは今なお魅力的な価値を持ち、歴史的な意義を持った時計です。

COMMENT

The black mirror dial features gold gilt lettering, with a finely detailed layout including a tachymeter, telemeter, minute track, and applied indexes along the outer edge. While logos on lesser-known brands are often printed, this one is also rendered in gilt, adding to its appeal. The pencil-style hands are non-luminous and understated, lending a clean impression despite the dial’s complexity. The case is crafted from high-grade stainless steel and features smooth lugs, a rare oversized pusher configuration, and a screw-down caseback with a double-seal design for dust resistance. The movement is the Valjoux 23, a legendary chronograph caliber used by major brands such as Rolex (Ref. 3525, pre-Daytona), Universal Genève, Girard-Perregaux, and Breitling. This movement later gave rise to derivatives like the Valjoux 72, with added 12-hour counters, marking a pivotal advancement in chronograph history.

This particular piece remains in excellent condition. The case shows no noticeable signs of use, only faint storage marks. The original hairline brushing on the case sides is intact, and the stepped bezel retains crisp edges. While there are minor scratches on the caseback, the engravings are still deep and legible, further attesting to its preservation. The dial is in near-perfect condition considering its age, with only a slight texture shift on the surface, but it still retains a rare semi-gloss sheen. The hands preserve their gold tone beautifully and radiate a fresh, vibrant look. Fully disassembled and serviced by our workshop.

Although the standout features are the pristine black gilt dial and the oversized pushers, the unique stepped bezel characteristic of this era should not be overlooked. The bezel’s upper surface is flat, with a sharply defined vertical drop—often referred to as a “cylinder step.” Oversized pushers like these are typically found on high-end brands such as Tissot and command premium prices, making this watch an exceptional opportunity to enjoy such specifications at a more accessible level.

There was once a time when countless watchmakers operated across the globe. During that period, Japan had a fixed exchange rate of 360 yen to the dollar, making imported goods exceptionally expensive. As a result, many of these small foreign watchmakers remained largely unknown in Japan. This watch, though from one of those obscure brands, continues to hold remarkable historical and horological value to this day.
