COMMENT

オメガのレジェンド、スピードマスターRef.2998です。リューズガードが無く、ラグがストレートで、無骨な雰囲気のケース形状をしています。シルバーカラーのアルファハンドはヴィンテージスピードマスターならではの趣です。日本ではキャタピラーと称されるフラットリンクブレスレットは、Ref.7912とエンドリンク6、クラスプデイト61/2を装備しています。搭載ムーブメントはCal.321。ピラーホイール式のため、コスト高で、チラネジテンプに巻き上げヒゲと高級仕様です。

ほとんど使用されていません。ケースバック側から見ると、プッシュボタンのチューブに腐食が一切見られません。このケース特有のラグにある、やわらかいエッジが、しっかりと残っており、質感はオリジナル通りです。ベゼルは写真の通り、剥がれはわずかのみの素晴らしいコンディションです。ダイヤルは素晴らしいコンディションで、濃く焼けたインデックス周りに若干の質感の変化が見られますが、その他特筆すべきダメージは見られません。フラットリンクブレスレットは正常にストレッチファンクションします。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

COMMENT

The legendary Omega Speedmaster Ref. 2998. This early example features a case without crown guards and straight lugs, giving it a rugged and purposeful character. The silver-toned Alpha hands are a hallmark of vintage Speedmasters, exuding a distinctive period charm. The flat-link bracelet—known in Japan as the “caterpillar”—is the correct Ref. 7912, fitted with No. 6 end links and a clasp stamped 61/2. Powering the watch is the celebrated Cal. 321, a column-wheel chronograph movement of high-grade construction with a screwed balance, overcoil hairspring, and uncompromising attention to precision.

This example shows almost no signs of use. Viewed from the caseback side, the pusher tubes are completely free of corrosion. The softly contoured lug edges, a distinctive feature of this case style, remain crisp and faithful to the original finish. The bezel is in remarkable condition with no flaking, as shown in the photos. The dial is also in excellent condition, with only minor tonal variation around the richly patinated hour markers—otherwise free from notable damage. The flat-link bracelet’s stretch function operates smoothly. The watch has been fully disassembled and cleaned in our workshop.

A Moonwatch of exceptional detail and condition, retaining all original components. Even among dealers, finding such a complete and well-preserved example is far from easy. It represents one of the finest products of the golden age of mechanical watchmaking—an opportunity not to be missed.
