ポルシェグループのF.A.ポルシェ率いるポルシェデザインがIWC社と連携して製造したダイバーズウォッチ、オーシャン2000。その名の通り、当時2000mの耐水性を備えた世界初の腕時計でした。

1982年から1998年まで製造された時計ですが、こちらは中期型で、IWCのロゴがダイヤルに入ります。オールブラックの意匠に、レーザーのような赤い秒針が読時のしやすさを極限まで高めています。ケースは当時としては先進的なチタンを採用し、非腐食性、耐磁性、低アレルギー性に優れる上に軽量化を実現しています。ベゼルは反時計回りにのみ回転し、回す前にベゼルを押し下げる必要があります。これは、ダイビング中に誤ってベゼルを動かしてしまうことを防ぐ実用的な安全策です。また、竜頭はIWC初となるねじ込み式を採用しています。ブレスレットは1984年頃に導入された、第2世代のもので、2つのピンで接合を保持します。

ケースにはわずかな小傷こそ見られますが、当時の雰囲気をよく残したスーパーミントコンディションです。ダイヤルはミントコンディションです。ベゼルとダイヤルのルミナスは素晴らしいベージュカラーを見せています。ジオメトリ2ブレスレットはピンの摩耗により、バックルが勝手に開いてしまう個体が多く見られますが、こちらは当時のままを保った希少なコンディションです。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

この時計は従来の時計職人による設計ではなく、ポルシェ911やステーショナリー、アパレルやタワーマンションなど多岐にわたるデザインを手がけてきたF.A.ポルシェがデザイナーを務めました。このモデルは西ドイツ海軍にも官給された経歴を持つダイバーズウォッチとしても有名で、近未来的なデザインが独自の人気博しています。ボックス、保証書、ストラップ、工具が完備している、ほぼ未使用と言って良い完品です。パーフェクトな個体をお探しの方にはまたとない機会となっています。

COMMENT

The Ocean 2000 diver's watch was produced by Porsche Design, led by F.A. Porsche, in collaboration with IWC. As the name suggests, it was the first watch in the world at the time to offer water resistance up to 2000 meters.

Produced from 1982 to 1998, this particular piece is from the mid-production period and features the IWC logo on the dial. The all-black design is complemented by a red laser-like second hand, which significantly enhances legibility. The case is made from titanium, a cutting-edge material at the time, known for its corrosion resistance, anti-magnetic properties, hypoallergenic qualities, and light weight. The bezel rotates counterclockwise only and requires being pushed down before turning, a practical safety feature to prevent accidental movement during diving. Additionally, the crown was IWC’s first to feature a screw-down mechanism. The bracelet is from the second generation, introduced around 1984, and uses a dual-pin system for added security.

The case shows some minor scratches, but overall remains in excellent condition, preserving the original atmosphere of the time. The dial is in mint condition, and the luminous elements on the bezel and dial have aged to a beautiful beige color. Many examples with the Geometric 2 bracelet suffer from wear on the pins, causing the buckle to open on its own, but this piece is in rare, original condition, without such issues. The watch has been fully serviced by us.

This watch was not designed by traditional watchmakers, but by F.A. Porsche, who also designed the Porsche 911, as well as stationery, apparel, and even high-rise buildings. The Ocean 2000 is also famous as a diver's watch supplied to the West German Navy, and its futuristic design has garnered a unique following.
