カラトラバケースのIWC、その名前の由来となったパテックフィリップのカラトラバを踏襲しながらも、IWC独自の整然とした雰囲気が漂います。控えめなデザインの中に、職人のこだわりが光る一本です。2面カットのドーフィンハンド、立体的な砲弾型インデックス、きらめくパールドロップのミニッツドット、そして落ち着いたパールホワイトのダイヤル。これらが見事に調和し、美しい均衡を生み出しています。ノンデイト・ノンルミナスのシンプルなフェイスが、洗練された印象をさらに高めています。

ムーブメントにはIWC自社製のCal.853が搭載されています。このムーブメントは、IWCが誇るペラトン方式の自動巻機構を採用。爪による両回転巻き上げを実現しており、その効率性と信頼性の高さは現在でも高い評価を得ています。ビーズが転がるような独特の巻き上げ音は、このムーブメントならではの特徴です。

This IWC features a Calatrava-style case that, while echoing the legacy of the Patek Philippe namesake, radiates a distinctly IWC sense of order and restraint. Within its understated design lies meticulous craftsmanship: faceted dauphine hands, sculpted bullet-shaped indexes, glistening pearl-drop minute dots, and a soft pearl-white dial work together in perfect harmony. The absence of both date and luminous elements adds to its clean, refined appearance.

Powering the watch is IWC’s in-house Caliber 853, renowned for incorporating the brand’s proprietary Pellaton winding system. This bi-directional winding mechanism, driven by a pawl system, is celebrated for its exceptional efficiency and reliability. The signature winding sound—akin to beads rolling—is a charming hallmark of this caliber.

The case shows signs of use, but the lugs retain crisp edges, preserving its sharp profile. Both the crystal and dial have developed a gentle vintage softness over time, adding a graceful patina. The indexes also show signs of aging, yet their polished facets remain beautifully intact, still catching the light with a refined brilliance. The movement has been fully serviced by our workshop.
