COMMENT

1939年製造のオメガです。cal.T17搭載のレクタンギュラー（長方形）ケースで、角型ケースの課題であった防水性、防塵の改善のために2重構造となっています。ダイヤルはブラックミラー。この世代らしいカッパーカラーの下地出しを採用しています。外周のミニッツと12.3.9のローマインデックスとシンプルながら魅力あるヴィンテージウォッチのディテールです。

ケースは均一なファセットを残し、プロポーションに優れています。傷が少なく、丸みを帯びた箇所、エッジのある箇所との対比が美しいです。 ダイヤルについて、ミラーの艶感をよく残したミントなものです。ルーペで覗くと最低限どの傷は見られるものの、年式を考慮すると最高評価です。シルバーの針は良い状態を保っています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

キャリバーT17は、オメガの角型を支えたムーブメントで、バイメタルテンプに巻上ヒゲと当時の技術の粋を集めて制作されています。防塵用の二重ケースは角型の隙間ができやすい欠点への対策として積極的に行われた手法です。戦車のようにがっちりとしたケースで存在感のあるレクタンです。

腕時計が普及し始めた1910年代から手巻き、自動巻と変遷を経て、クオーツ時計の開発によって機械式時計が衰退します。それ以前の1960年代に機械式腕時計はひとつのピークに達します。当時は日本でも三種の神器の一つだったオメガの時計。持つ人のステータスとなる高級品で、各メーカーが精度や防水性、耐久性など切磋琢磨し開発した時代。コストをかけて、より良い時計造りのためにしのぎを削っていました。

COMMENT

This Omega, manufactured in 1939, features a rectangular case housing the calibre T17. To address the challenges of water resistance and dust protection associated with angular cases, it adopts a dual structure. The black mirror dial incorporates the characteristic copper-colored undertone for this generation. The outer minute track, Roman numerals at 12, 3, and 9, exemplify the simple yet captivating details of vintage watches.

The case maintains uniform facets and boasts excellent proportions. With minimal scratches, the contrast between rounded and edged areas enhances its beauty. Regarding the dial, it is in mint condition, preserving the glossy finish of the mirror. While minimal scratches can be observed under a loupe, considering its age, it receives the highest rating. The silver hands are in good condition, and the watch has been professionally disassembled and cleaned by our experts.

The T17 caliber, a movement that supported Omega's rectangular watches, was meticulously crafted with features such as a bimetallic balance and the pinnacle of contemporary technology. The double case for dust protection was a proactive measure to address the vulnerability of angular cases. The Recta, with its tank-like robust case, exudes a commanding presence.
