オメガのフラッグシップモデル、コンステレーション。こちらは中央に縦方向のヘアライン、外周に同心円状のヘアライン仕上げを施した、立体的なツートン仕上げのパイパンダイヤルを備えた一本です。時分針はドーフィン型で、すべて短く設計されており、パイパンの内周に沿って美しくランニングします。インデックスは台形のファセットを持つバータイプで、上位機種にふさわしい洗練された意匠。ケースは希少な18金無垢イエローゴールド製で、ゴールドダイヤルが多い中、シルバーダイヤルが軽やかさと端正な雰囲気を演出しています。ノンデイト仕様でスクリューバックを採用し、抑制の効いた美しいバランスに仕上がっています。

ムーブメントは、自動巻第2世代にあたるCal.551を搭載。550番台以降のムーブメントは無駄のない構造美が特徴で、よりスリムかつ高精度な仕上がりに進化しています。その結果、デザイン面でも余計な制約が取り払われ、スタイリッシュなダイヤル構成を可能にしています。

ダイヤルはツヤを保ったコンディションで、ツートンの質感がしっかりと残っており、瑞々しい印象を与えます。高倍率で確認するとわずかなポツポツとした経年変化が見られますが、全体として非常に良好です。針、インデックス、アプライドのΩロゴにメッキの剥がれや傷みはなく、鏡面の反射が美しく際立っています。ケースは研磨の形跡がなく、特にベゼルの段にシャープなエッジが残っており、当時の雰囲気を色濃く留めています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

“星座”の名を冠するコンステレーションは、精度を追求したオメガの象徴的存在。クオーツ全盛以前、「精度こそが価値」とされた時代における最高峰の自動巻モデルです。Cal.551は巻き上げ効率が高く、通常の使用であれば手巻きを要する機会はほとんどありません。オリジナルのリューズはデザイン性を重視しており、やや巻き難さを感じるかもしれませんが、これは当時の仕様として正しいものであり、実用面で問題はございません。

The Constellation represents the pinnacle of Omega’s craftsmanship—a flagship model that symbolizes the brand’s pursuit of precision. This particular piece features a rare two-tone pie-pan dial, with vertical brushing at the center and circular brushing around the outer edge, creating a richly textured and dimensional finish. The dauphine-style hour and minute hands are purposefully short, running elegantly along the inner edge of the pie-pan dial. Trapezoidal faceted bar indexes further enhance the refined aesthetic, befitting a high-end model.

The case is crafted entirely from solid 18k yellow gold—a luxurious construction—and houses a silver dial that offers a more lightweight and formal contrast to the more common gold dials. The clean, no-date layout and screw-down caseback contribute to its restrained, well-balanced design.

Inside beats the Caliber 551, part of Omega’s second generation of automatic movements. Known for its streamlined architecture and slim profile, this caliber represents a significant leap in both technical precision and design flexibility. It allowed for more sophisticated dial configurations without compromising accuracy or durability.

The dial remains in lustrous condition, retaining its rich two-tone texture and a fresh overall impression. Minor speckling from age is visible under magnification but does not detract from the dial’s beauty. The hands, indexes, and applied Omega logo all exhibit pristine mirror finishing with no signs of wear or plating loss. The case has never been polished, and the stepped bezel retains its sharp, original edges—a detail that reflects the watch’s well-preserved vintage character. Fully disassembled and serviced by our workshop.

Bearing the name “Constellation,” this model stands as a testament to Omega’s relentless pursuit of accuracy during a time when precision defined value. The Cal. 551 is known for its efficient automatic winding, minimizing the need for manual winding in everyday use. While the original crown is slightly recessed for aesthetic balance—making it less ergonomic than modern crowns—it remains true to the watch’s design and poses no functional issues.
