18金無垢のオイスターケースは、通常のケースに比べ、ラグの根が盛り上がった形状をしており、重厚感を与えています。ダイヤルはティピカルなサンレイ仕上げが施され、シンプルなデザインによって素材の良さが際立っています。インデックスが珍しい立体造形のクサビインデックスで、SWISSダイヤルの頃にしか見られないタイプです。外周は２つの山形を重ねたフラット、外側の斜傾部は鏡面仕上げで、爪に見立て「Claw（クロー）」と呼ばています。夜光なしであることで、よりデイデイトのラグジュアリーなスタイルを確立しています。針は当時のデイデイト専用品です。搭載ムーブメントはデイデイト専用のCal.1555。

ケースは使用傷が少なく、ラグはしっかりとした作りで、プロポーションに優れています。2時位置のラグ裏はホールマークがしっかりと残っています。ダイヤルは極めて良好なコンディションで、ミントな状態を保っています。当時のヘアライン仕上げの質感がそのまま残されており、針、インデックスは、上面の鏡面仕上げが煌びやかに輝いています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

デイデイトにのみ見られるこのインデックスと針は、特別にコストが掛けられた意匠です。発売当時の専用針が交換されることなく装備していることは、大切なポイント。1960年前半、SWISS表記のデイデイトにおいて、ダイヤルの状態が完全に良いものは稀です。生産数の少ないトップモデルかつトップコンディション。コレクター垂涎の的となっています。

COMMENT

The solid 18K yellow gold Oyster case features a unique design where the lugs rise prominently from the case, lending the watch a sense of weight and authority. The dial is finished in a classic sunburst pattern, its simplicity allowing the quality of the materials to shine. Most striking are the three-dimensional faceted wedge indexes, a rare style found only on “SWISS” dials of the early 1960s. The outer chapter ring is executed in a distinctive double-stepped form, the sloping outer facet polished to a mirror finish—an element collectors affectionately call the “Claw.” The absence of luminous material enhances the luxurious character of the Day-Date, while the hands are original, Day-Date–specific pieces from the period. Powering the watch is the dedicated Day-Date movement, Cal.1555.

The case shows minimal wear, with robust lugs and excellent overall proportions. The hallmark beneath the 2 o’clock lug remains crisp and clearly visible. The dial is in superb condition, retaining its mint appearance with no signs of burnishing or discoloration. The original sunray texture remains intact, while the hands and indexes continue to gleam with their mirror-polished facets. This watch has been fully serviced by our workshop.

The Day-Date is distinguished by its specially crafted indexes and hands, both of which were manufactured with added cost and refinement unique to the model. The fact that this piece retains its original hands without replacement is a significant point of value. Among early 1960s Day-Dates bearing “SWISS” dials, examples with dials in such exceptional condition are exceedingly rare. A low-production top-tier reference preserved in top condition, this watch stands as a true grail for collectors.
