タキシードダイヤルといえば、ジェラルド・ジェンタ設計のユニバーサル・ジュネーブ「ポールルーター」が有名ですが、それに次ぐ存在として知られるのが、チュードル自動巻ライン「オイスタープリンス」の通称“タキシード”です。外周には細やかな彫刻と5分刻みのインデックスを配し、内側はブラックミラーにクロスラインを走らせた、手の込んだ意匠。ケースはオイスターとしては珍しいツイストラグを備え、ムーブメントにはバタフライローターを採用したクラシックな構造の自動巻を搭載しています。

ケースは大きな打痕のない良好なコンディションで、程よい使用傷が見られるもののツイストラグのエッジは鋭さを保っています。ダイヤルは経年変化によりブラックミラーが半艶へと落ち着き、すり鉢状のインナーリングは美しいシャンパンカラーを維持。夜光塗料を持たないモデルのため、針の状態は良好です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

While the tuxedo dial is most famously associated with Gérald Genta’s design for the Universal Genève “Polerouter,” a worthy counterpart can be found in the Tudor automatic line, the “Oyster Prince,” known by collectors as the “Tuxedo.” Its dial features a finely engraved outer track with 5-minute graduations, while the inner section is rendered in glossy black with crosshair lines—an intricately executed design. The Oyster case is distinguished by its uncommon twisted lugs, and inside beats a self-winding movement with a classic butterfly rotor construction.

The case is free from major impacts, showing only light wear while retaining the sharp definition of its twisted lugs. The black mirror surface of the dial has mellowed to a soft semi-gloss with age, while the recessed inner ring remains a beautiful champagne tone. As this model was produced without luminous material, the hands have also been preserved in fine condition. Disassembly and cleaning have been carried out by us.

The bold contrast between the outer and inner sections of the tuxedo dial achieves a rare balance of legibility and visual appeal. Combined with its no-lume, no-date configuration, the watch exudes a pure, understated elegance.
