世界初のアラーム腕時計、ヴァルカンのクリケットです。二重構造の裏蓋により音を共鳴させ大きく奏でます。ダイヤルはホワイト。アプライドによるローズゴールドカラーのアラビアインデックスとVULCAIN cricketの文字が、広い盤面の中で良いアクセントになっています。ドルフィンハンドを採用しています。

操作方法は

竜頭を0段から、2段引くと時刻合わせ
プッシュを2段押し込むと、竜頭操作でアラームセット
竜頭を押し込むとアラームオン
プッシュを1段押し込むとアラームオフ

0段 竜頭 正回転 → アラームゼンマイ巻き上げ
0段 竜頭 逆回転 → ムーブメントゼンマイ巻き上げ

ケースは、ラグのファセットがオリジナルのままで、非常に迫力があります。38mmというジャンボなサイズのため、腕に着けるとその迫力が際立ちます。ダイヤルはわずかな経年変化が見られますが、1950年代のホワイトとしてはとても良好なコンディションです。針やインデックスは良好で、鏡面仕上げは美しく光を反射します。当社で分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブは43時間あり、アラームファンクションも正常に動作します。

1947年に発表されたヴァルカンのクリケットは、世界初のアラーム機能を備えた腕時計でした。アメリカのハリー・トルーマン大統領が着用して以来、過去60年間、ほぼ全ての大統領に就任式や大統領就任後の記念としてヴァルカン・クリケットが寄贈されました。実際にはロレックス デイデイトよりも「プレジデントウォッチ」という呼称がふさわしい時計と言えるでしょう。

Introducing the world's first alarm clock, Vulcain's Cricket. Launched in 1947, this model features a dual-layer case back that resonates to produce a loud sound. The dial is white, adorned with rose gold-colored Arabic indices and dauphine hands.

It houses the Cal.120, the world's first alarm movement. 

Turning the dragon head two notches back from the 0 position sets the time.
Pressing the pusher twice engages the alarm setting through dragon head manipulation.
Depressing the dragon head activates the alarm.
A single push on the pusher turns off the alarm.

At 0 position, rotating the dragon head clockwise winds up the alarm mainspring.
At 0 position, rotating the dragon head counterclockwise winds up the movement mainspring.

The case retains its original facets on the lugs, exuding a powerful presence. With a jumbo size of 38mm, wearing it on the wrist accentuates its commanding stature. While the dial shows slight signs of aging, it remains in relatively good condition for a watch from the 1950s. The hands and indices are well-preserved, and the mirror-polished finish beautifully reflects light. Having undergone disassembly and cleaning by our company, it boasts a power reserve of 43 hours, and the alarm function operates smoothly.

Introduced in 1947, Vulcain's Cricket was the world's first wristwatch with an alarm function. Since President Harry Truman first wore it, for almost 60 years, every president received a Vulcain Cricket as a gift for inauguration ceremonies or as a post-inauguration commemoration. In reality, it might be more fittingly nicknamed the "President Watch" than the Rolex Day-Date.
