COMMENT

1944年製、カラトラバケースのオールドインターです。質実剛健なインターの印象はそのままに、年式を感じるクラシカルなデザインが1940年代らしいフェイスです。ダイヤルはホワイト。ブラックプリントのレターと、フォントが特徴的なアラビアンインデックスを配しています。大きなスモールセコンドはとても目を惹きます。一段下がり、精緻な溝は造り込みが良く、シンプルなデザインの中にもIWCのモノづくりへの心意気を感じます。ケースはこの年式では高級素材であるステンレス。35mmのジャンボケース、加えてベゼルがフラットなものは特に需要が高いです。アーカイブが付属します。

ケースは素晴らしいコンディション。ラグやベゼルが立っており、迫力があります。小傷は少なく、当時のプロポーションが感じ取れる貴重な個体です。ダイヤルは全体にエイジングが現れています。ブラックプリントのレターやインデックスは劣化が見られません。ブルースチールの針は発色良く残っています。厳正に判断しますと、時針の根元が若干茶色く変色していますが、まず気にならないものです。古い機械ですが、弊社にて分解掃除済みで好調に動いているのを確認しております。

今でこそケースとラグがシームレスなものをカラトラバケースと形容していますが、PATEK PHILLIPEのカラトラバが生産されるよりも前、1920年代からIWCが産出していたという諸説があります。

BRAND

アメリカマサチューセッツ州ボストン出身の時計師、フロレンタイン・アリオスト・ジョーンズが1868年に創立したのが始まり。特徴的なデザインで今なお世界中で人気を誇る「パイロット・ウォッチ」コレクションなど、多くの人気シリーズを発売。磁気から時計を守る為の軟鉄製インナーケースや、IWC独自の"ぺラトン式"と呼ばれる両回転式自動巻機構はあまりに有名。

This 1944 Old Inter with a Calatrava case retains the sturdy and straightforward impression characteristic of Inter watches, while its classical design evokes the 1940s era. The white dial features distinctive black-printed letters and Arabic numerals. The prominent sub-seconds dial is captivating, showcasing intricate craftsmanship with its stepped design, reflecting IWC's dedication to meticulous watchmaking even within a simple design. The case, a high-end material for its time, is stainless steel. The 35mm jumbo case, coupled with a flat bezel, is particularly sought after. An archive accompanies the timepiece.

The case is in excellent condition, with prominent lugs and bezel, exuding a commanding presence. There are minimal scratches, allowing one to appreciate the proportions typical of that era. The dial shows signs of aging overall, yet the black-printed letters and indices remain intact without significant deterioration. The blue steel hands retain their vibrant color. While there is slight discoloration at the base of the hour hand upon close inspection, it's negligible. Despite being an old mechanism, it has been disassembled, cleaned, and runs smoothly, as confirmed by our inspection.

While today we describe cases with seamless lugs as Calatrava cases, there are theories suggesting that IWC had been producing watches with such cases before Patek Philippe's Calatrava models were introduced in the 1920s.
