COMMENT

海外でも愛される通称「KAKUME」と呼ばれる四角い目を持ったダイアル。6138-0030には2つのカラーデザインが存在し、この個体はブラウングレーのタイプ。スクエアのブラックマットのサブダイヤルと、オレンジのタキメーターのベゼルが付いたサンレイ仕上げのダイヤルが特徴です。ダイヤルのコンディションが美しいため、高評価できます。ケースは未研磨で、エッジを効かせています。

BRAND

1960年代は、機械式腕時計は完成期とも言えるほどの発展を遂げた時期で、セイコーは精度コンクールの分野でも量産の分野でも、世界に追いつき、追いぬいた時代であった。同時に、「時計の電子化」が進展し、1969（昭和44）年12月にセイコーが世界初のクオーツ（水晶）腕時計を発売することにより、機械式腕時計からクオーツ腕時計へと大きく舵を切ろうとする時期でもあった。

COMMENT

Nicknamed “Kakume” overseas, this model is instantly recognisable for its square-eyed sub-dials. The Ref. 6138-0030 was produced in two dial variations, and this example features the brown-grey sunburst type. The contrast of matte black square sub-dials with the vivid orange tachymeter bezel gives the dial a striking presence. With its dial in exceptionally fine condition, this piece stands out as a highly desirable example. The case remains unpolished, with sharp, well-defined edges intact.

BRAND

The 1960s marked the peak of development for mechanical wristwatches, and Seiko distinguished itself both in chronometry competitions and in mass production, catching up with—and surpassing—the world’s leading brands. At the same time, the company drove the shift toward electronic timekeeping, culminating in December 1969 with the release of the world’s first quartz wristwatch. This milestone signalled a decisive turning point from mechanical to quartz technology, cementing Seiko’s reputation as a true innovator.
