ダイヤルはブラックマットを中央に配し、その外周をシルバーが取り囲む構成で、さらに外縁は再びブラックマットで仕上げられています。インデックスはレッドでプリントされたバータイプ、針は中央にホワイトの夜光を備えたバーハンドが組み合わされ、シンプルながら高い視認性を実現しています。ダイヤル外端部にブルドン管の原理を利用した水深計が設けられており、簡易的ながらも当時としては革新的な機能を備えていました。加えて回転ベゼルを搭載し、実用性を高めています。

こちらはNEW OLD STOCKです。ケースは小傷が見られますが、側面のヘアライン仕上げは良好に残っており、厚みのある力強いプロポーションを保っています。ダイヤルは艶やかなミラー感を残し、鮮やかな印象を維持しています。シルバーのラインはエイジングにより、落ち着いた色味に変化。針やインデックスは十分な輝きを備えており、全体として引き締まった雰囲気を感じさせます。

オリエントは国内ブランド大手のセイコーやシチズンに続く日本のメーカーのいう意味合いを込めて「時計業界の三男坊」といわれ親しまれているブランドです。1901年、吉田庄五郎という時計職人が上野に開いた吉田時計店が始まり。

COMMENT

The dial features a striking composition, with matte black at the center framed by a silver ring, and another matte black band completing the outer edge. Slim red-printed bar indexes are paired with baton hands filled with white luminous material, offering both simplicity and excellent legibility. Around the outer perimeter of the dial sits a depth gauge based on the Bourdon tube principle—an innovation of its era, even if simplified in execution. Complementing this function is a rotating bezel, further enhancing the model’s practicality.

The case shows light surface wear but retains its original brushed finish along the sides, preserving its bold, substantial proportions. The dial still displays a glossy, mirror-like quality and maintains its vivid impression. The silver track has mellowed with age into a refined tone, while the hands and indexes continue to shine with strength, giving the watch a sharp and cohesive presence overall. The watch has been fully disassembled and cleaned by our workshop.

By incorporating a waterproof gasket system to house its depth gauge, this model reflects Orient’s spirit of technical innovation during the period. Combined with its rotating bezel and calendar function, it embodies the practical ethos of a true tool watch. Globally, such an unconventional and rare construction makes it stand out among vintage divers, offering both uniqueness and strong appeal for collectors.
