フライトマスターの1stモデル、特徴的なフジツボ型の大型ケースは、放射状に施されたヘアライン加工が印象的です。クロノグラフに加え、多機能を搭載し、飛行士のニーズに応えた特別なモデルです。インナー回転ベゼルは8時位置のリューズで調整でき、経過時間を確認することが可能です。青色のデュアルタイム針は10時位置のリューズで調整でき、2カ国の時刻を同時に表示できます。9時位置の表示は24時間計であり永久秒針がないことと、ふくらみを帯びたガラス製の風防は、1stモデルならではの特徴です。

ケースはアンポリッシュで、元来のプロポーションをそのままに楽しむことができます。軽い小傷は見られますが、それが迫力を一層増し、ヴィンテージならではの魅力を引き立てています。ダイヤルは全面がブラウンに変化しており、特にインダイヤルはその色味が顕著で、深みを感じさせます。インデックスのルミナスは程よくベージュに変化し、独特の風合いが生まれています。9時位置のインダイヤルはグリーンの色合いが当時のままであることは、エイジングしたものとのコントラストをつくり、ヴィンテージ感を一層際立たせています。

COMMENT

The first-generation Flightmaster features a bold, barnacle-shaped case with a distinctive radial brushed finish that immediately catches the eye. In addition to its chronograph function, it was specially designed with multiple complications to meet the demands of professional aviators. The inner rotating bezel is adjusted via the crown at 8 o’clock and can be used to measure elapsed time. The blue dual-time hand is set using the 10 o’clock crown, allowing the user to track a second time zone. At 9 o’clock, the sub-dial displays a 24-hour indicator—serving as a day/night reference—while the watch notably lacks a continuous seconds hand, and the domed mineral crystal is another hallmark of the 1st generation model.

The case remains unpolished, preserving the Flightmaster’s original proportions and presence. Minor surface scratches are present, but they only add to the watch’s commanding vintage character. The dial has aged to a rich, even brown tone across its surface, with the sub-dials exhibiting an especially deep hue that enhances its visual depth.
