ラグが緩やかにカーブしたデザインは、後年の角張ったドッグレッグラグと比べて、よりクラシカルな意匠です。ダイヤルは縦方向にヘアライン仕上げが施されており、インデックスには独特なカットが入り、ルミナスを備えない仕様がソリッドな印象を際立たせています。ブレスレットにはオメガ純正のビーズオブライス、Ref.1502、エンドリンク11が装着されています。

ムーブメントには全回転自動巻の第2世代Cal.551を搭載。550番台以降のキャリバーは、余計な構造を排した洗練された設計で、機能面・耐久性の両面で高い完成度を誇ります。これによりデザインの自由度も高まり、スタイリッシュなフェイスが実現しています。

使用頻度の少ない個体と思われ、大きなダメージは見受けられません。ケースの稜線はシャープな状態を保っており、シルバーカラーのダイヤルは焼けが少なく、みずみずしいコンディションです。針やインデックスも良好な輝きを維持し、角度によって美しく光を反射します。ブレスレットは固定リンク6〜9個で、当時のテーパーがそのまま残されています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

1960年当時、「良い時計＝高精度な時計」という価値観が広く浸透していた時代背景のもとで製造されたのが、本機に代表されるオメガのフラッグシップモデル、コンステレーションです。文字盤に記された「CHRONOMETER」の表記は、公式の精度検定をパスした証であり、機能性への強い信頼を裏付けるものです。「Constellation（星座）」という名称や文字盤の星の意匠は、精度競技が行われた天文台へのオマージュでもあります。弊社では、こうした背景を持つコンステレーションを多数取り扱っており、長年にわたり蒐集・販売してまいりました。

COMMENT

The gently curved lugs on this model present a more classical aesthetic compared to the sharper, angular “dog-leg” lugs found on later versions. The dial features a vertical hairline finish, while the uniquely faceted indexes—absent of luminous material—lend a clean, solid presence. Fitted with an original Omega “beads of rice” bracelet, Ref.1502 with end links 11.

Inside is the second-generation full-rotor automatic Caliber 551. Omega’s 550-series calibers are renowned for their simplified, refined architecture—striking an excellent balance between functionality and durability. The movement’s streamlined design also enabled greater flexibility in case and dial design, which is reflected in the watch’s stylish and well-proportioned face.

This example shows very little wear, suggesting limited previous use. The case edges remain sharp, and the silver-toned dial retains a fresh appearance with minimal patina. The hands and indexes are clean and lustrous, catching the light beautifully at various angles. The bracelet retains its original taper with 6–9 fixed links intact. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Produced at a time when the notion of a "good watch" was virtually synonymous with high precision, this Constellation represents the pinnacle of Omega’s offerings in the early 1960s. The “CHRONOMETER” designation on the dial certifies that the movement passed official accuracy testing, reinforcing its mechanical credibility. The model’s name—“Constellation”—and the star motif on the dial pay homage to the observatories where these precision trials were conducted.
