COMMENT

アール・デコ様式全盛期に製造されたロレックスの希少モデル「エジプシャン」。その名は、エジプトのピラミッドを思わせるステップカバードラグの造形に由来します。ケースは9金無垢製で、クラシカルな飛び出し竜頭が愛らしい印象を添えています。ダイヤルには「OYSTER」の表記が入り、スクリューバックとねじ込み式リューズを備えた防水構造を採用。インデックスはブラックプリントのアラビア数字、針はブルースチール製のブレゲハンド、外周にはミニッツトラックを配しています。固定バネ棒式で、当時らしい仕様です。

ケースは傷が少なく、当時の面の立ち方を良好に維持しています。ダイヤルは経年による変化が見られるものの、この年代としては良好なコンディションです。ブルースチール針はくすみや錆がなく、美しい輝きを湛えています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

裏蓋には、イギリス、スイス、フランス、アメリカ、ドイツで取得した特許番号がびっしりと刻印され、技術的背景の豊かさを物語ります。オイスターケースを用いたモデルの中でも、これほどアール・デコ的造形を色濃く残すデザインは極めて稀少。当時の美意識と実用機能を高度に融合させた一本であり、工芸品としての完成度と時計としての精緻な作り込みに深い魅力を感じさせます。

COMMENT

This rare Rolex model, known as the “Egyptian,” was produced during the height of the Art Deco era. Its name derives from the stepped, covered lugs reminiscent of the pyramids of Egypt. The case is crafted from solid 9K gold, complemented by a charming, protruding crown. The dial bears the “OYSTER” inscription, with a screw-down caseback and screw-down crown ensuring water resistance. The black-printed Arabic numerals are paired with blued steel Breguet hands, while a minute track encircles the periphery. Fixed spring bars complete the period-correct construction.

The case exhibits minimal wear, with its original sharp lines well preserved. The dial shows age-related changes yet remains in fine condition for its era. The blued steel hands retain their luster, free from tarnish or corrosion. Disassembly and cleaning have been performed by us.

The caseback is densely engraved with patent numbers from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, the United States, and Germany — a testament to its rich technical heritage. Among Oyster-cased models, few preserve such a strong Art Deco aesthetic. This piece stands as a rare fusion of period design sensibilities and practical engineering, offering both the craftsmanship of an objet d’art and the precision of a fine timepiece.
