ZENITH Two-Tone Dial Step Bezel

COMMENT

実用性と美学を兼ね備えた、当時のZenith（ゼニス）のデザイン性の高さが伺い知れる時計。ケースはベゼルが二段になっており、ダイアルのサークルラインと連動した秀逸な意匠です。裏蓋はスクリュー式で、現在でも汗程度の防水を期待できます。文字盤は中心が膨らんだボンベダイアル、アラビア数字ルミナスインデックスには淡いカラーのラインを引いています。ミニッツドットは立体的なパールドロップが採用され、分針はミニッツにちょうど重なる長さです。日付のないノンデイトのため、ダイアルデザインが左右対称のシンメトリーになりサークルラインも途切れることなくヴィンテージらしいディテールを楽しめます。機械はバンパー式で、動かすたびにコツコツと腕に振動を感じます。ヴィンテージ機械式時計の実感を持てる機械です。

ケースは浅く当て傷の勲章を残していますが、研磨の形跡は見られません。ラグの3面ファセットは均一で、ステップしたベゼルは当時のエッジを残しています。ダイアルは70年の経過を感じさせないほど状態が良いです。最低限度のエイジングこそ見られますが、縦ヘアラインの質感を残しており、角度をつけて覗いた際には虹色の光彩が確認できます。インデックスのルミナスは黒潰れしておらず、良い色味です。ブルースチールの秒針は完璧に色味を残しています。針夜光のみ、素晴らしいベージュカラーにエイジングしており、ヴィンテージらしい芳醇な表情を作り上げています。

50年代の高機能を詰め込んだことが伺え、裏蓋の打刻が誇らしく、「自動巻、防水、耐震、耐磁、ステンレス」の表記が所狭しと並んでいます。ステンレスは帯磁しにくいことから、当時は耐磁板を備えなくとも「NON MAGNETIC」の表記がなされることが多いようです。

機械式時計の名機エル・プリメロで知られるスイスのブランド。1865年スイスのル・ロックルにて創業、「天頂」をブランド名称の由来とし、ムーブメントの開発および製造を自社で一貫して行っているマニュファクチュールブランド。その技術力の高さは、博覧会などで獲得した2000を超える賞の数々が物語っています。

This timepiece from Zenith truly embodies both practicality and aesthetics, showcasing the remarkable design prowess of Zenith during that era. The case features a two-tiered bezel, which integrates seamlessly with the circular lines on the dial, demonstrating ingenious design. The screw-down case back still offers sweat-resistant waterproofing to this day. The dial boasts a bulging center bombe dial, with luminous Arabic numeral indexes accentuated by subtle-colored lines. Three-dimensional pearl drop minute markers and minute hands perfectly align in length. With no date complication, the non-date dial design achieves symmetrical symmetry, allowing vintage details to be appreciated without interruption in circle lines. The movement is a bumper type, giving a palpable sensation of vibration with each movement, truly capturing the essence of vintage mechanical watches.

While the case bears shallow scratches from wear, there are no signs of polishing. The three-sided facet lugs are uniform, and the stepped bezel retains the sharp edges typical of the time. The dial remains in surprisingly good condition considering its 70-year history. While minimal aging is evident, the vertical hairline texture is retained, with rainbow-colored hues visible when viewed from different angles. The luminous material on the indexes shows no signs of blackening, retaining its excellent color. The blue steel second hand retains its perfect color hue. The aged luminous material on the hands exhibits a wonderful beige color, creating a rich vintage appearance.

The engraving on the case back proudly boasts of its high functionality from the 1950s, listing "automatic, waterproof, shock-resistant, antimagnetic, stainless." Stainless steel, known for its low magnetism, the "NON MAGNETIC" inscription being even if not equipped with antimagnetic shields during that era.
