Djezvedjian & Son（コンスタンティノープル） へ出荷された個体。ダイヤルには同代理店のサインが入り、当時のオスマン帝国市場に向けた特注仕様であることが確認できます。ケースは厚みをもたせたラウンドフォルムにワイヤーラグを備え、第一次世界大戦前後の典型的なデザインを踏襲しています。艶やかなポーセリンダイヤルはアールデコ調のアラビア数字が配され、6時位置には一段下がったスモールセコンドを配置。青焼きのスペードハンドは均整の取れた美観と優れた視認性を両立しています。ケースはスナップバック式で内部は二重構造、ムーブメントをしっかりと保護する堅牢な設計です。ムーブメントはイスラム語のサインが確認できます。

ケースはわずかに細かな使用傷が見受けられますが、全体の印象を損なうものではなく、良好なコンディション。ポーセリンダイヤルは奇跡的にクラックがなく、清潔感のある美しい状態を保っています。針は錆とくすみが見られず、当時の輝きを残しています。インデックスは欠けがなく、繊細な数字の輪郭をしっかりと保っています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

1914年という時代背景を踏まえると、本品は第一次世界大戦開戦直前、後の希土戦争前に、オスマン帝国から注文を受けて製造された"腕"時計であり、軍事的に使用されたであろう、歴史的な意味合いを帯びています。ダイヤルに記された「CONSTANTINOPLE（コンスタンティノープル）」は、その後トルコ革命を経て1930年に正式に イスタンブール へ改称されるので、地名表記ひとつからも時代の移り変わりを感じ取ることができます。代理店サイン入りポーセリンダイヤルと、アーカイブに裏付けられた来歴は、100年以上を経てもなお特別な価値を放ち続けています。

The dial bears the retailer’s signature, confirming it as a special-order configuration for the Ottoman Empire market. The case features a rounded profile with added thickness and wire lugs, faithfully reflecting the design language of the years surrounding the First World War. Its glossy porcelain dial is decorated with Art Deco–style Arabic numerals, with a recessed small seconds at 6 o’clock. Blued steel spade hands balance elegance with legibility. The snap-back case incorporates a double inner construction, a robust design that ensured reliable protection of the movement, which itself carries Islamic-script engravings.

The case shows only minor surface wear, not detracting from its overall impression, and remains in fine condition. Remarkably, the porcelain dial is free from cracks, retaining a clean, luminous appearance. The hands are free of rust or tarnish, preserving their original brilliance. The numerals remain sharp with no losses, maintaining the delicacy of their contours. The watch has been fully disassembled and serviced by our workshop.

Placed within the historical context of 1914, this timepiece was produced just before the outbreak of the First World War and in the years leading up to the Greco-Turkish War, ordered directly from the Ottoman Empire as an early “wrist” watch—quite possibly with military use in mind. The inscription “CONSTANTINOPLE” on the dial carries particular significance: following the Turkish Revolution, the city’s name was officially changed to Istanbul in 1930, making this single geographical reference a testament to a world in transition. With its porcelain dial signed by the retailer and provenance confirmed through the archive, this watch continues to radiate exceptional significance and historical value more than a century after its creation.
