グランドセイコー・セカンドに後期モデル、Ref.5722-9010です。 セカンドモデルが発売されたのはファーストモデルの発売から4年経った1964年。ファーストモデルと比較すると、カレンダー機能（早送り機能付き）を搭載、ケース裏蓋を圧入式のスナップバックからねじ込み式のスクリューバックに変更されています。獅子メダリオンを採用しており、後期モデルにあたるこちらは、クロノメーター表記がなくなっています。

ラグ周りに擦れや小傷が見られますが、ケースの輪郭は保たれており、全体の印象を損ねるような深いダメージは目立ちません。ダイヤルは清潔感のある状態を維持していますが、一部に黒点状の経年変化が確認できます。針・インデックスの印象は崩れず、表情を引き締めています。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

5722系は、グランドセイコーが実用精度の追求と造形の緊張感を高い水準で両立させていた時代を象徴する存在です。Gold Top特有の柔らかな光沢は過度に主張することなく、光の角度によって表情を穏やかに変化させます。本リファレンスはステンレススチールケースが主流であり、Gold Top仕様は流通量の限られたバリエーションです。条件の整った個体を見つけることが年々難しくなっているモデルであり、その完成度を率直に体感できる一本です。

Grand Seiko’s second-generation model in its late configuration, Ref.5722-9010. Following the launch of the First in 1960, the Second Model debuted in 1964 with notable upgrades: the addition of a date function with quick-set, and a shift from a pressure-fitted snap-back to a screw-back case for improved durability. This later iteration replaces the earlier Chronometer wording, reflecting a transitional phase in Grand Seiko’s identity during the mid-1960s.

Light wear and minor marks can be seen around the lugs, though the overall case profile remains intact, with no deep damage that would detract from its presence. The dial retains a clean impression, with small black speckling visible upon close inspection as part of natural ageing. The hands and indexes remain well balanced, preserving the watch’s crisp expression. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

The 5722 series represents an era in which Grand Seiko achieved a rare balance between practical accuracy and a disciplined, architectural case design. The soft lustre unique to the Gold Top finish offers a gentle, understated presence, shifting subtly with the angle of light. While stainless steel examples form the majority of this reference, the Gold Top configuration was produced in far smaller numbers and appears only infrequently today. Finding one in well-preserved condition has become increasingly challenging, and this piece allows the quality of the design and construction to be appreciated in its most authentic form.
