シチズンが当時の技術を注ぎ込み、クロノメーター規格を上回る精度を掲げたフラッグシップとして位置づけられたグロリアスシチズンです。搭載ムーブメントは自社Cal.7750で、毎時36,000振動のハイビート、31石という構成がこのシリーズの核となります。4-770293はターンプッシュ式の操作系で知られ、実用時計としての合理性がデザインに溶け込んだ点も魅力です。

本個体はNEW OLD STOCKとして保管されてきた個体です。ケース全体は打痕や深い傷が見当たらず、清潔感のある状態です。ストラップ裏側は劣化が見られますが、着用由来ではありません。裏材が合皮仕様のため、保管期間に伴う変化として表れたものです。当時のボックス、レザーストラップ、バックルが付属します。こちらは分解掃除をしておりません。

1960年代後半から70年代初頭、日本勢が高精度機械式の頂点を競った時代に、グランドセイコーが存在感を高める一方で、シチズンが“最高峰”としてぶつけた答えがグロリアスシチズンでした。販売数が少なく、市場での遭遇率が低い点もこの系統の価値を押し上げています。高振動ムーブメントを、過度な装飾へ逃げずに端正な外装へ収めた結果、精度競争の熱量と日本的な美意識が同居する一本として残りました。

リューズを2段引くと針の操作が行えます。

■カレンダーの早送り方法
6時側を下にし、リューズの中心を押し込むと日付の早送り。
12時側を下にし、リューズの中心を押し込むと曜日の早送りが行えます。

※20時から翌朝の4時の間に針がある時は、早送り操作をしないでください。

The Glorious Citizen was positioned as Citizen’s flagship at a time when the company channelled its finest technology into achieving precision surpassing chronometer standards. It is powered by the in-house Cal.7750, a high-beat movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour with 31 jewels—an architecture that forms the core identity of the series. The 4-770293 variant is known for its turn-push mechanism, a practical and intuitive system that integrates functional engineering seamlessly into the design.

This piece has been preserved as NEW OLD STOCK. The case shows no noticeable dents or deep scratches, maintaining a remarkably clean appearance throughout. The underside of the strap exhibits deterioration unrelated to wear; the backing is made of synthetic material, and the change is attributable solely to ageing during storage. The original box, leather strap, and buckle are included. This watch has not been serviced.

During the late 1960s to early 1970s, when Japanese manufacturers competed at the pinnacle of mechanical precision, Citizen’s answer to the rising prominence of Grand Seiko was the Glorious Citizen—its declaration of “the highest standard.” Limited production numbers and low market circulation contribute significantly to its collectability today. By housing a high-beat calibre in a restrained and meticulously crafted exterior, Citizen achieved a harmony between the fervour of the accuracy race and a refined Japanese aesthetic.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
■ Setting the time
Pull the crown out to the second position to adjust the hands.

■ Quick-set date
With the 6 o’clock side facing downward, press the centre of the crown to advance the date.

■ Quick-set day
With the 12 o’clock side facing downward, press the centre of the crown to advance the day.

Do not perform quick-set operations when the hands are between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m.
