COMMENT

シルバーのサンレイダイヤルに、カッパーメッキの針・インデックスを合わせた端正な自動巻です。12時のみアラビア数字で強調し、6時位置にスモールセコンドを配したレイアウトが顔つきを引き締めています。ケースは厚みのあるラウンドで、ケースバックには耐磁・防水・耐衝撃を示す刻印が確認できます。ショートラグの造形が効いた、ユニークな外観です。搭載ムーブメントはCal.3610（21 RUBIS表記）で、自動巻スモールセコンドという仕様が特徴の、数の限られたタイプです。

ケースは使用に伴う擦れと線傷が見受けられますが、ベゼルの輪郭は保たれています。ケースバックは周囲の刻印が読み取れ、オリジナルの雰囲気を損ねません。ダイヤルは状態が良く、焼けのないシルバーのサンレイが美しく立ち上がります。針・インデックスのカッパーメッキはトーンが揃い、視認性を崩すような傷みは感じません。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

このモデルの面白さは「全回転ローターの自動巻で、スモールセコンドを成立させている」点にあります。自動巻は秒針を中央にまとめるセンターセコンドが主流へ移行していき、全回転ローターの時代になると、自動巻スモールセコンドは一気に希少な仕様になりました。実際、当時もっとも大量に腕時計を製造していたとされるオメガでさえ、自動巻スモールセコンドのCal.400番台は数が限られ、例外的な存在です。そうした流れの中で、スモールセコンドを“古い仕様”として切り捨てず、クラシックな意匠として残した設計思想がCal.3610の魅力。表情は静かなドレスですが、機械側には手間を惜しまない実直さがあり、日常で扱いやすい自動巻として楽しめる一本です。

BRAND

1884年の創業当初から、 クロノグラフを手掛けるエボーシュメーカーとして活躍。1940年代には自社名を冠したミリタリーウォッチを製作し、イギリス軍やスウェーデン軍に軍用時計を供給しています。 特にイギリス軍には陸・海・空軍すべてに同社のクロノグラフが採用されるなど、信頼度の高さを証明しています。また、エボーシュメーカーとしては、1932年以降にOMEGAなどのムーブメントの供給元にもなっています。 1969年の、アポロ11号月面着陸の際にアームストロング船長の腕に巻かれていたオメガの＜スピードマスター＞の機械は、＜LEMANIA＞が手掛けていたことを忘れてはいけません。

COMMENT

This is a well-balanced automatic watch that pairs a silver sunburst dial with copper-plated hands and indices. The layout is tightened by emphasizing only the 12 o’clock position with an Arabic numeral and placing a small seconds display at 6 o’clock. The case is a thick, rounded form, and the case back bears markings indicating antimagnetic, waterproof, and shock-resistant properties. Short, well-defined lugs give the watch a distinctive silhouette. The movement is Cal. 3610, marked “21 RUBIS,” a relatively uncommon configuration featuring an automatic winding system with small seconds.

The case shows light scuffs and hairline marks from use, though the bezel retains its original outline. The case-back engravings around the perimeter remain legible, preserving the watch’s authentic character. The dial is in fine condition, with the silver sunburst finish standing up cleanly and without discoloration. The copper-plated hands and indices are tonally consistent, with no damage that would detract from legibility. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

What makes this model particularly interesting is its combination of a full-rotor automatic movement with a small seconds display. As automatic watches evolved, the center seconds configuration became dominant, and once full-rotor systems were established, automatic small-seconds movements quickly became rare. In fact, even Omega—often cited as the most prolific wristwatch manufacturer of the period—produced only limited quantities of automatic small-seconds calibers in its 400-series, making them exceptional rather than standard. Against this backdrop, Cal. 3610 is noteworthy for preserving the small seconds not as an outdated feature, but as a deliberate expression of classical design. While the outward appearance is calm and dress-oriented, the movement reflects an earnest, uncompromising approach to engineering, resulting in an automatic watch that is both distinctive and highly practical for everyday wear.

BRAND

Since its founding in 1884, the company has been active as an ébauche manufacturer specializing in chronographs. In the 1940s it produced military watches under its own name, supplying timepieces to the British and Swedish armed forces. Notably, its chronographs were adopted across all branches of the British military—army, navy, and air force—attesting to their reliability. As an ébauche maker, the firm has also supplied movements to brands such as Omega since 1932. It should not be forgotten that the movement inside Omega’s Speedmaster worn by Captain Armstrong during the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 was manufactured by Lemania.
