セイコースピードタイマー6139シリーズは、世界で最初に製造された自動巻きクロノグラフウォッチの1つです。6139には多くのケースバリエーションがあり、8010はステンレスに興味深いPVD（physical vapor deposition）コーティングを施したブラックケースが特徴です。PVDとは金属の表面処理技術のひとつで、耐摩耗性、耐凝着性、離型性、耐食性など、金属のさまざまな性能を高めることができます。ダイヤルはブラックマット。外周のブルーラインと30分積算計の15分までのオレンジが映えます。

搭載されているCal.6139Bは当時では先進性のあった垂直クラッチ、コラムホイールを採用したキャリバーで、日本の技術力の高さを示しています。リューズのプッシュによる、日付、曜日、言語の切り替えが非常に画期的です。通称“61クロノ”と呼ばれる諏訪精工舎製の国産時計初となる名作自動巻きクロノグラフ時計です。

The Seiko Speedtimer 6139 series stands as one of the world’s earliest automatic chronograph wristwatches. Among the many case variations, Ref. 6139-8010 is distinguished by its stainless steel case finished with an early PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating, giving it a striking black appearance. PVD is a surface treatment technology designed to enhance durability, wear resistance, adhesion resistance, and corrosion protection—adding both functional and visual depth to the case. The dial is matte black, accented by a vivid blue outer track and orange detailing within the first 15 minutes of the 30-minute register, creating a bold yet purposeful contrast.

Inside is the Cal. 6139B, an advanced movement for its era, incorporating both a vertical clutch and a column wheel—technical features that demonstrated Japan’s high level of engineering capability. The crown-press system for switching the date, day, and language was particularly innovative at the time. Commonly referred to as the “61 Chrono,” this Suwa Seikosha-built caliber represents Japan’s first domestically produced automatic chronograph masterpiece.
