機械式時計最盛期、1963製のデイデイトです。金無垢とプラチナのみで展開されているデイデイトは、フルスペルで曜日が表示される初のモデルでした。18金無垢のオイスターケースはフルーテッドベゼルの輝きが美しく、重厚感があります。針はデイデイト専用針です。交換されているものが多い中、この針が付いていることは重要なポイントです。ダイヤルはティピカルなサンレイ仕上げ、シンプルな仕上げにより素材の良さを強調させます。

搭載ムーブメントはデイデイト専用Cal.1555。テンワの慣性モーメントを調整することで、時計の進み遅れを調整する「フリースプラング」を採用。ひげぜんまいへの余計な負荷が少なく、長期的に精度安定、等時性安定を実現できます。

ケースは使用傷が多少ありますが、ラグがたくましくプロポーションに優れています。2時のラグ裏のホールマークがしっかりと視認できるのがポイントです。ダイヤルは極めてミントなコンディションです。この年式のデイデイトで、ダイヤルの状態が良いものは多くはありません。当時のヘアラインによる質感をそのままに残しています。当時のオリジナル針とインデックスは上面の鏡面仕上げが煌びやかに輝きます。6.9のインデックスは上面の仕上げが幅広なので、コンディションの良さは重要なポイントです。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ48時間以上を確認しています。

デイデイトは1956年の発表当時、日付と曜日を表示する世界初の防水性能を備えたクロノメーター自動巻時計でした。ROLEXから35代目アメリカ大統領のアイゼンハワー氏に贈呈されたことを始め、現在でも最高のステータスウォッチとしての地位を確立しています。

This is a 1963 Day-Date, hailing from the pinnacle of mechanical watchmaking. The Day-Date, offered exclusively in solid gold and platinum, was the first model to feature the full-spelling display of the day of the week. The 18-carat solid gold Oyster case boasts a beautiful gleam with its fluted bezel, exuding a sense of elegance and weightiness. The hands are specific to the Day-Date model, a crucial detail considering many have been replaced over time. The presence of these original hands is a significant selling point. The dial features a typical sunray finish, emphasizing the quality of the material with its simple yet refined appearance.

It houses the Day-Date exclusive Caliber 1555 movement. By adjusting the inertia moment of the balance wheel, it utilizes the "free-sprung" balance to regulate the watch's timing, ensuring long-term precision stability and isochronism with minimal additional stress on the hairspring.

While the case may exhibit some signs of wear, the lugs are robust and exhibit excellent proportions. The hallmark on the back of the lug at 2 o'clock is clearly visible, a notable detail. The dial is in extremely mint condition, a rarity for Day-Date models of this year. It retains the texture from the original hairline finish, maintaining the essence of its era. The original hands and indexes gleam brightly with their top surface mirror finish. The wide finish of the 6 and 9 indexes is a crucial aspect in assessing its condition. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our company, confirming a power reserve of over 48 hours.

When the Day-Date was introduced in 1956, it was the world's first waterproof chronometer automatic watch to display both the date and the day of the week. From being presented to the 35th President of the United States, Eisenhower, by Rolex, to its current status as the pinnacle of status watches, the Day-Date has solidified its position as an icon.
