COMMENT

ケースは初期のモノコック構造から、防水スナップバックに変更されたバージョンです。ダイヤルデザインはまさにクラシック60'sクロノグラフを象徴するリバースパンダスタイル。バーインデックスとバーハンドというシンプルな構成が、ブランドのアイデンティティをしっかりと伝えています。ブラックのマットダイヤルに、オレンジ色のセンタークロノ針がアクセントとなり、カジュアルでありながら印象的なキャラクターを作り上げています。搭載されているのは、ヴィーナス188をチューンナップしたバルジュー7733ムーブメントです。

ケースは軽微な保管傷が見られますが、全体的に優れたプロポーションを保ち、太いラグがそのたくましい印象を際立たせています。ダイヤルはミントコンディションで、目立つダメージはありません。インダイヤルの美しいシルバーカラーはそのまま維持され、夜光塗料のトリチウムはエレガントなベージュカラーに変化しています。針のプリントは劣化せず、センタークロノのオレンジ色も鮮やかに保持されています。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、スムーズな機能性も確認済みです。

トップタイムは1962年に初めて販売され、その後1964年にデザインが一新されて再発売されました。発売当初のコンセプトは、若者向けの時計であり、「父親が持つ時計ではなく、仲間同士で好まれる時計」というものでした。そのため、トップタイムは個性的でエレガントなデザインが特徴で、文字盤やケースのバリエーションが豊富に展開されました。金無垢やGF、SSなど各種素材、限られた形に収まらない自由なデザインは、時計の世界に新たな可能性を示す象徴的なタイムピースとなりました。

BRAND

1884年、スイス・サン・ティミエに複雑時計製作の工房が設立されたことが、＜BREITLING＞のルーツです。創業者レオン・ブライトリングはクロノグラフ製作において特異な才能を発揮し、その名を世間に広めました。彼は、エンジン飛行機がまだ発展途上にあった時代から、航空産業の将来性を確信し、飛行機用の時計や計器を製造することを決意しました。二代目のガストン・ブライトリングは、世界初の腕時計型クロノグラフを開発し、航空産業に多大な貢献をしました。現在、”クロノグラフのスペシャリスト”として確固たる地位を築いた＜BREITLING＞は、世界中で愛され、進化を続けている名門ブランドです。

COMMENT

The Top Time was designed to strike a balance between simplicity and sporty appeal. This example represents the updated version, transitioning from the early monocoque case to a waterproof snap-back design. Its dial embodies the quintessential 1960s chronograph aesthetic, featuring a reverse panda layout. The bar indexes and bar hands create a minimal yet confident presence, clearly expressing the brand’s identity. The matte black dial is accentuated by a vivid orange central chronograph hand, lending a casual yet impactful character. Powering the watch is the Valjoux 7733—a refined version of the Venus 188 movement.

The case shows only minor storage marks, maintaining excellent overall proportions. Its thick lugs emphasize a bold, rugged stance. The dial is in mint condition, free from any notable damage. The sub-dials retain their beautiful silver tone, while the tritium lume has aged to a tasteful beige hue. The printing on the hands remains intact, and the central chronograph hand preserves its striking orange color. The watch has been fully disassembled and serviced by our workshop, and its functions operate smoothly.

The Top Time was first introduced in 1962, then redesigned and relaunched in 1964. Its original concept was to appeal to a younger audience—a watch not for one's father, but one preferred among peers. As a result, the Top Time is known for its bold and elegant styling, with a wide variety of dial and case variations. Whether in solid gold, gold-filled, or stainless steel, the Top Time defied traditional design conventions, becoming an iconic piece that represented new possibilities in watchmaking.

BRAND

Founded in 1884 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, BREITLING began as a workshop specializing in complex timepieces. Its founder, Léon Breitling, quickly gained recognition for his talent in chronograph manufacturing. Even in the early days of powered flight, he foresaw aviation’s immense potential and committed to developing timepieces and instruments for aircraft. His son, Gaston Breitling, continued this legacy by creating the world’s first wristwatch chronograph, making significant contributions to the aviation industry.
