長年にわたり製造され、オメガの基盤を支えてきたコンステレーションには数多くのバリエーションが存在します。なかでも、本作のようなパイパンダイヤルは、コンステレーションらしい繊細さと大胆さを併せ持つ意匠として知られています。インデックスは12・6・9にアラビア数字を配した珍しい仕様で、シリーズの中でもスポーティーな印象を漂わせます。針はドーフィンハンドを備え、視認性に優れた実用的なデザインです。ブレスレットはオメガ純正のビーズオブライス 1502（エンドリンク11）を装着。搭載するクロノメーターCal.561は、5ポジションおよび温度補正が施された高精度ムーブメントで、21時と1時を往復させることで日付の早送りが可能な機構を備えています。歴代の500系オートマチックを改良し、評価を確立した名キャリバーです。

ケースは保管に伴うわずかな小傷のみで、全体のプロポーションを良好に保っています。ダイヤルは色味の変化が見られず、美しい質感をしっかりと残しています。厳正に申し上げますと、ルーペで確認するとごくわずかな粒状の経年変化が認められますが、製造から約60年を経ているとは思えないほどエイジングは控えめです。針やインデックスの上面にもくすみがなく、立体感が際立っています。当店にて分解清掃済みです。

当時のオメガは、精度を競う天文台クロノメーター・コンクールで輝かしい成績を重ねており、その栄光を象徴する意匠として天文台がデザインに取り入れられています。6時位置の星、そして裏蓋の天文台メダリオンはいずれも高精度の象徴です。12・6・9のアラビア数字を備えた1950年代までは一定数存在しますが、本作のような個体はサンレイダイヤルの組み合わせは製造数の限られた希少なバリエーションです。

この世代のオメガの機械は自動巻効率が優秀なため、手巻きを必要とする場合がほとんどありません。コンステレーションのオリジナル竜頭は、デザイン性を重視しています。手巻きし難いなど、マニュアルでの操作が重い感じますが、オリジナルの仕様であり、問題ありません。

Produced over many decades, the Constellation line served as a foundation of Omega’s identity and offers a wide array of variations. Among them, the pie-pan dial—such as the one featured here—is known for combining the delicacy and boldness characteristic of the Constellation family. This example is particularly distinctive with Arabic numerals at 12, 6, and 9, a scarce configuration that lends the model a subtly sporty presence. Dauphine hands ensure excellent legibility, while the watch is fitted with an original Omega beads-of-rice bracelet, Ref. 1502 with 11 end links. Powering the watch is the chronometer-rated Cal. 561, adjusted to five positions and temperature, equipped with a date quick-set mechanism activated by repeatedly moving the hands between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. A refined evolution of the earlier 500-series movements, it is regarded as one of Omega’s most accomplished calibres.

The case shows only faint surface marks from storage and retains its proportions beautifully. The dial has preserved its original tone with virtually no discolouration. To speak with precision, a loupe reveals extremely fine granular ageing, but considering the passage of roughly sixty years, the dial remains remarkably well preserved. The hands and indexes are free from tarnish, and their dimensionality stands out clearly. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

During this period, Omega excelled in observatory chronometer competitions, and the designs of the Constellation proudly reference that heritage: the star at 6 o'clock and the observatory medallion on the case back are enduring symbols of high precision. While Arabic numerals at 12, 6, and 9 were seen with some frequency through the 1950s, examples like this—paired with a sunburst dial—represent a rare variant with very limited production.

Movements of this era from Omega offer highly efficient automatic winding, making manual winding seldom necessary. The original Constellation crown prioritises design aesthetics; although hand-winding may feel slightly firm or less accessible, this is inherent to the original specification and does not indicate a functional issue.
