ブレスレットとベゼルにビス装飾をあしらったサントスは、カルティエの個性を象徴するスポーツモデルです。本品は1980年代に製造されたサントス・オクタゴンの中でも、金無垢仕様のハイエンドモデルに位置づけられます。平面カットのブレスレットは従来のサントスよりも一層スポーティな印象で、角度によってシャープに輝きを放ちます。ダイヤルは艶のあるホワイトで、ローマンインデックスとブルースチールのバトンハンドという、クラシックなカルティエの意匠が展開されています。リューズには通常モデルとは異なる多面カットの尖ったサファイアが使用されており、金無垢モデルならではのディテールが光ります。

ワンオーナーによる保管品で、ミントコンディションを維持しています。ケースは保管傷こそわずかに見られますが、シャープな面構成を崩さず、オリジナルのプロポーションを良好に保っています。カルティエのエナメル調ダイヤルは経年によりヒビ（クラック）が入りやすい傾向がありますが、本品はクラックのない“SWISS”表記ダイヤルを備えた希少な個体です。針のブルーは褪色せず、艶やかな発色を残しています。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

1900年代、飛行士サントス・デュモンが飛行中に時刻を確認できるようカルティエにオーダーしたのが「サントス」の始まり。そのサントスのなかでも八角形型モデル「サントスオクタゴン」は、平面上にカットが入ったブレスが、腕を動かす度にキラキラと煌めきます。シンプルながらもエレガントな印象を与えるモデルです。

The Santos, with its signature screw-set bezel and bracelet, stands as Cartier’s emblematic sports model. This particular piece is a high-end version of the Santos Octagon, produced in the 1980s, featuring a full solid gold construction. The flat-cut bracelet exudes an even sportier feel than the standard Santos, catching the light with striking brilliance at different angles. The glossy white dial showcases classic Cartier design cues, with Roman numerals and blued steel baton hands. A uniquely faceted, pointed sapphire cabochon crowns the piece—an elevated detail reserved for solid gold models.

A one-owner watch kept in mint condition, this piece displays only minimal storage marks on the case. The sharp architecture of the original form remains intact, preserving its well-defined proportions. Cartier enamel-finish dials from this era are known for developing hairline cracks over time, but this example features a rare “SWISS”-signed dial with no cracking whatsoever. Among early-production octagonal Santos models from Cartier’s revival era, finding a full gold version in mint condition with a flawless dial is exceptionally rare. The Santos started when aviator Santos-Dumont ordered Cartier to create a watch that he could use to check the time while flying.
