サントスはブレスレットとベゼルがビスで彩られた、カルティエの個性を象徴するデザインです。指輪ではビスを用いた「LOVE コレクション」が1970年代から製造されています。8角形のベゼルが華やかなサントスオクタゴンは、すでに製造が終了しており、ビンテージならではの意匠です。ダイヤルは淡いアイボリー、マットな質感がクラシックな風合いです。ミニッツトラック、ローマインデックス、サークルラインのコンビネーションが美しいです。ブルースチールのバトン針と、カボジョンリューズの石の色が合っていて、良いポイントカラーとなります。

ケースの上面にわずかな傷が見られますが、ベゼルは非常に良好なコンディションを保っています。側面は打痕や使用傷が少なく、全体として好印象です。ダイヤルは汚れや傷のないミントコンディションで、状態が素晴らしいです。針も濃い青が鮮やかに残っており、完璧な状態を維持しています。

1900年代、飛行士サントス・デュモンが飛行中に時刻を確認できるようカルティエにオーダーしたのが「サントス」の始まり。そのサントスのなかでも八角形型モデル「サントスオクタゴン」は、平面上にカットが入ったブレスが、腕を動かす度にキラキラと煌めきます。シンプルながらもエレガントな印象を与えるモデルです。

The Santos is a quintessential Cartier creation, instantly recognizable by its screw-decorated bezel and bracelet—design elements that have become enduring symbols of the brand. Echoing the design language introduced in Cartier’s “LOVE” collection of rings from the 1970s, the screws on the case and bracelet embody a bold yet refined aesthetic. The Santos Octagon, with its signature eight-sided bezel, is a discontinued model whose distinctive styling speaks to a bygone era of Cartier design. The dial features a soft ivory tone with a matte finish, evoking a timeless elegance. The combination of a minute track, Roman numerals, and an outer chapter ring creates a beautifully balanced layout. Blued steel baton hands pair harmoniously with the cabochon-set crown, adding just the right accent of color.

There are a few light marks on the top of the case, but the bezel remains in excellent condition. The case sides show minimal signs of wear, and the overall impression is one of careful preservation. The dial is in outstanding mint condition—free from any blemishes or discoloration—while the hands retain their vibrant blue tone, indicating superb overall integrity.

This LM-size Santos Octagon has become increasingly difficult to source in recent years, making this a particularly welcome offering.
