COMMENT

ポルシェグループのF.A.ポルシェ率いるポルシェデザインがIWC社と連携して製造したダイバーズウォッチ、オーシャン500。その名の通り、当時500mの耐水性を備えた腕時計でした。

オールブラックの意匠に、レーザーのような赤い秒針が読時のしやすさを極限まで高めています。12時位置に筆記体の旧ロゴが描かれており、同モデルの中で初期型であることが読み取れます。ケースは当時としては先進的なチタンを採用し、非腐食性、耐磁性、低アレルギー性に優れる上に軽量化を実現しています。ベゼルは反時計回りにのみ回転し、回す前にベゼルを押し下げる必要があります。これは、ダイビング中に誤ってベゼルを動かしてしまうことを防ぐ実用的な安全策です。

ケースには傷が一切見られず、非常に素晴らしいコンディションです。回転ベゼルの夜光塗料は完璧に残っており、一目で大切に保管されていたことがわかります。ダイヤルはミントコンディションで、夜光には崩れがなく、美しいベージュカラーに変化しております。弊社で分解掃除済みです。

この時計は従来の時計職人による設計ではなく、ポルシェ911やステーショナリー、アパレルやタワーマンションなど多岐にわたるデザインを手がけてきたF.A.ポルシェがデザイナーを務めました。このモデルは西ドイツ海軍にも官給された経歴を持つダイバーズウォッチとしても有名で、近未来的なデザインが独自の人気博しています。また製造されて間もない時期のダイヤルのため市場に出回る数も多くはなく、希少価値の高い品となっています。

COMMENT

The Ocean 500 is a diver’s watch developed through the collaboration between Porsche Design, led by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, and IWC. True to its name, it offered 500 meters of water resistance at the time of its release.

Rendered entirely in black, the design is punctuated by a laser-like red seconds hand that maximizes legibility. The cursive early logo at 12 o’clock identifies this example as part of the initial production. The case is crafted from titanium—an advanced material for its era—chosen for its corrosion resistance, anti-magnetic properties, hypoallergenic nature, and light weight. The bezel rotates counterclockwise only and must be pressed down before turning, a practical safeguard against accidental movement during diving.

The case shows no visible scratches and remains in exceptional condition. The luminous material on the rotating bezel is perfectly preserved, reflecting careful storage. The dial is in mint condition, with the lume intact and aged to a pleasing beige tone. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Rather than being conceived solely by traditional watchmakers, this model was designed by F.A. Porsche, known for his work across diverse fields including the Porsche 911, writing instruments, apparel, and architecture. The Ocean 500 is also recognized for having been issued to the West German Navy, reinforcing its credentials as a professional diver’s watch. Its futuristic aesthetic has earned it enduring appeal, and early-dial examples such as this are seldom encountered on the market, adding to its rarity and desirability.
