セイコースピードタイマー6139は、世界で最初に製造された自動巻きクロノグラフウォッチの1つです。Speedtimer 6139には多くのケースバリエーションがあり、この個体のタイプは重厚なCラインが特徴です。ダイヤルはブラックとグレーのツートンで、メモリの長いラジアルダイヤルが特徴です。

搭載されているCal.6139は当時では先進性のあった垂直クラッチ、コラムホイールを採用したキャリバーで、日本の技術力の高さを示しています。リューズのプッシュによる、日付、曜日、言語の切り替えが非常に画期的です。通称“61クロノ”と呼ばれる諏訪精工舎製の国産時計初となる名作自動巻きクロノグラフ時計です。

The Seiko Speedtimer 6139 is one of the first automatic chronograph watches ever manufactured in the world. Among the various case variations of the Speedtimer 6139, this particular type is characterized by its robust C-line design. The dial features a two-tone combination of black and gray, with a long-memory radial dial as its distinctive feature.

The Caliber 6139 equipped in this watch was innovative for its time, featuring a vertical clutch and column wheel, showcasing the high level of Japanese technological prowess. The groundbreaking feature of switching between date, day, and language via the push of the crown was ahead of its time. This masterpiece automatic chronograph watch, known as the "61 Chrono" or "Seiko 5 Sports Speed Timer," was the first domestically produced chronograph watch by Suwa Seikosha, a subsidiary of Seiko.
