キングセイコー 44KSの最初期型、Ref.44999です。1964年1月生産の個体で、シルバーのサンレイダイヤルに筆記体のCHRONOMETER表記が映える、初期ならではの雰囲気を備えています。ノンデイトの端正なシンメトリーに、鋭いバーインデックスとドーフィンハンドを合わせた構成で、華美ではなく輪郭の美しさで魅せるフェイスです。ケースバックは獅子メダリオンです。

ケースは全体のプロポーションが整っており、ラグの稜線がしっかり感じられます。ダイヤルは面の揃いが良く、放射仕上げの表情がきれいに残っています。針とインデックスは光沢が保たれ、清潔感のある印象です。裏蓋のコンディションは良好で、実用を前提とした個体として安心感があります。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

Ref.44999は、のちのRef.44-9990へ移行する前段階に位置づけられる、44KSの“はじまり”を示すリファレンスです。初代キングセイコーと比べて秒針規正装置（ハック機能）やスクリューバックを備え、精度追求だけでなく、使い勝手まで踏み込んで完成度を上げています。さらに筆記体CHRONOMETER表記は、当時の国産高級機が精度の看板を真正面から掲げていた時代背景を映すディテールで、この最初期ならではの価値をいっそう際立たせています。

COMMENT

This is the earliest generation of the King Seiko 44KS, Ref.44999. Produced in January 1964, it features a silver sunray dial accented by the elegant cursive “CHRONOMETER” script—an early-period hallmark that sets this reference apart. The no-date layout creates a clean, symmetrical presentation, complemented by sharp bar indexes and refined dauphine hands. Its appeal lies not in ornamentation, but in the purity of its contours. The caseback is fitted with the lion medallion.

The case retains a well-balanced profile with clearly defined lug edges. The dial surface is even and exhibits a well-preserved sunray finish. Both hands and indexes maintain their original lustre, giving the watch a crisp, refined impression. Ref.44999 represents the formative stage of the 44KS line, preceding the later Ref.44-9990.
