COMMENT

樽型Cラインケースはジェラルド・ジェンタが手がけた造形として知られ、1970年前後に多く見られたデザインです。本個体はステンレススチールケースにイエローゴールドカラーのフルーテッドベゼルを組み合わせた仕様で、このコンビネーションは流通数が少なく、ジェンタコンステレーションの中でも目にする機会は限られます。前期型のドーム風防を備え、ヴィンテージらしい柔らかな表情を保っています。ダイヤルはシルバーのリネン仕上げ。インデックス上面にはブラックプリント、側面にはゴールドを配し、ケースとベゼルの配色と呼応する設計です。ペンシルハンドにもブラックを取り入れ、全体を引き締めています。カレンダー枠の立体的なカッティングにも丁寧な作り込みが見られます。

ケースは良好な状態です。使用に伴うわずかなスレは見られますが、側面やラグのエッジは立ち、シルエットはシャープに保たれています。針にくすみや目立つ傷はなく、インデックスのファセットも立体感を維持しています。ブラックプリントは崩れがなく、視認性も良好です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

星座を意味するコンステレーションは、当時のオメガにおける高精度自動巻の象徴的存在です。Ref.168.017は実用性と意匠のバランスに優れ、特に本個体のようなスチールケース×イエローゴールドカラーベゼルの組み合わせは、スポーティーさと華やかさを同時に感じさせます。精度が価値とされた時代背景を体現しつつ、現代の装いにも自然に溶け込む完成度を備えています。

COMMENT

The tonneau-shaped C-line case is widely recognized as a design by Gerald Genta, frequently seen around 1970. This example pairs a stainless steel case with a gold fluted bezel—a combination encountered less often within the Constellation line. It retains the earlier domed crystal, preserving a softly contoured vintage character. The dial features a silver linen finish. Black printing is applied to the top of the indexes, with gold along their flanks, echoing the interplay between the steel case and gold bezel. The pencil hands incorporate black detailing, tightening the overall composition. Even the dimensional cutting of the date frame reflects careful attention to detail.

The case remains in very good condition. Minor surface wear consistent with use is present, yet the edges along the sides and lugs remain sharp, maintaining a defined silhouette. The hands show no tarnishing or noticeable scratches, and the faceted indexes retain their crisp geometry. The black printing remains intact and legible. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

The Constellation—its name meaning “constellation”—stood as a symbol of Omega’s high-precision automatic watchmaking during its era. Ref. 168.017 achieves a compelling balance between functionality and design, and in this steel case with gold bezel configuration, it conveys both sporting restraint and subtle brilliance.
