COMMENT

キングセイコーの最高峰44クロノメーター、1966年3月の製造品です。Ref.4420-9990となった後期の製品は、ブロック体のChronometerがこの製造期ならではのディティールです。ダイアルはシルバーのサンレイ、ソリッドなバーインデックス×ドーフィンハンドのクラシカルな意匠。ノンデイトですのですっきりとしたシンメトリーなフェイスが魅力です。竜頭にW SEIKO、ケースバックのメダリオンは獅子です。

ケースは稜線がはっきりと残っており、素晴らしいコンディションです。リューズや裏蓋の刻印は良好に保たれ、使用感の少ない状態。ダイヤルはわずかなエイジングが見られますが、気にならない程度に収まっています。針とインデックスは鏡面の状態を維持しており、清潔感のある表情です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

無駄なデザインのないキングセイコー。質素なものに趣を感じる日本人ならではとも言える洗練された作品で、普遍であるが故のオーラを持った時計です。

BRAND

キングセイコーは1961年8月に亀戸の第二精工舎にて開発され、グランドセイコーに次ぐ高級腕時計としてセイコーの時計史において欠かすことのできない名品腕時計となっています。

COMMENT

The pinnacle of King Seiko, the 44 Chronometer, produced in March 1966. This later Ref. 4420-9990 features the block-style “Chronometer” text distinctive to this production period. The dial is finished in silver sunburst, paired with solid bar indexes and dauphine hands in a classical composition. As a non-date model, it offers a clean, symmetrical face that enhances its disciplined aesthetic. The crown is signed “W SEIKO,” and the caseback medallion bears the lion emblem.

The case retains sharply defined edges and remains in excellent condition. The engravings on the crown and caseback are well preserved, with minimal signs of wear. The dial shows slight aging, though it remains within a range that does not detract from its overall appearance. The hands and indexes maintain their mirror-polished surfaces, presenting a crisp and refined expression. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Free from unnecessary ornamentation, King Seiko expresses a refined restraint that resonates deeply with Japanese sensibility. Its simplicity gives rise to a quiet authority—an enduring presence born from purity of design.

BRAND

King Seiko was developed in August 1961 by Daini Seikosha in Kameido, positioned as a high-grade line just below Grand Seiko. It remains an indispensable chapter in Seiko’s horological history, representing the brand’s pursuit of precision and refinement during a defining era of Japanese watchmaking.
