COMMENT

セイコーの希少モデル「プロフェッショナル300mダイバー」。62ダイバーはセイコーの本格ダイバーとして幻とも言われる300ダイバーの初期モデルです。ステンレスのワンピースケースに、ハードレックスガラス、ねじ込み式リューズが採用されています。ベゼルは両回転式で、キチキチと小気味良い音を鳴らします。ダイヤルはブラックマット。外周部のミニッツは一段上がった立体構造で、高級感があります。インデックスと針はルミナスを縁取ったもので、無二の存在感です。縁には細かなヘアライン仕上げを施しています。過去にセイコーにてサービスされたもので、カウントアップのアウターベゼルと針は純正のサービスパーツを装着。オリジナルのカウントダウンは別途付属しています。ベルトは当時のブルーのウレタンベルトを装備しています。

外装は実使用に伴うスレや線傷が確認できますが、ケースの輪郭は保たれており、回転ベゼルはツヤ感を見せています。ケースサイドの稜線ははっきりと形を保っており、裏蓋の刻印は掠れることなく、明瞭に現存しています。ダイヤルはブラックの落ち着いた表情を保っており、インデックスはエイジングが最小の素晴らしい状態です。付属しているラウレタンバンドは非常に希少なブルーが装備されており、曲げの跡が一切ないミントに近い状態です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

時代はクォーツショック直前、セイコーの持ち合わせた技術を集結させて作られた当該メーカー史上、最高傑作の一つです。セイコーミュージアムにも展示されているモデルです。防水性を含めたその堅牢な構造は、ROLEXのサブマリーナをも上回るスペックで、当時最高峰と謳われています。このプロフェッショナルダイバーは、部品を外部供給せず、メーカー修理のみの対応でした。実際に道具として使われたダイバーズウォッチは、メーカーによりベゼルや針などをサービスパーツに交換することが常でした。本個体は、希少なオリジナルカウントダウンベゼルとブルーストラップを付属する、特別な一品です。

BRAND

1960年代は、機械式腕時計は完成期とも言えるほどの発展を遂げた時期で、セイコーは精度コンクールの分野でも量産の分野でも、世界に追いつき、追いぬいた時代であった。同時に、「時計の電子化」が進展し、1969（昭和44）年12月にセイコーが世界初のクオーツ（水晶）腕時計を発売することにより、機械式腕時計からクオーツ腕時計へと大きく舵を切ろうとする時期でもあった。

COMMENT

The rare Seiko “Professional 300m Diver,” regarded as an early iteration of the legendary 300m diver line and often described as one of the brand’s most elusive professional models. It features a stainless steel monocoque case, Hardlex crystal, and a screw-down crown. The bidirectional bezel produces a precise, tactile click. The matte black dial is defined by a raised outer minute track, adding depth and a sense of refinement. The indexes and hands are framed with luminous material, creating a distinctive presence, while a fine hairline finish traces the outer edge.

Previously serviced by Seiko, the watch is fitted with genuine service replacement parts for the count-up outer bezel and hands. The original count-down bezel is included separately. It comes mounted on the period-correct blue urethane strap, completing the authentic tool-watch aesthetic of the era.

The exterior shows signs of honest use, including light scuffs and hairlines, yet the case silhouette remains intact and the rotating bezel retains its sheen. The case-side edges are clearly defined, and the caseback engravings remain sharp. The dial preserves its deep black tone, and the indexes show minimal aging. The accompanying blue urethane strap is particularly rare and remains in near-mint condition without bending marks. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Produced just before the Quartz Shock, this model represents one of Seiko’s most accomplished technical achievements of the era. It is displayed at the Seiko Museum and was once described as surpassing the Rolex Submariner in water-resistance specifications of its time. Designed for manufacturer-only servicing, many surviving examples bear service parts. This piece stands apart by including its original count-down bezel and rare blue strap, marking it as a particularly noteworthy example of an important chapter in Japanese watchmaking history.

Seiko reached a peak of mechanical innovation during the 1960s, excelling in both chronometry competitions and industrial production. At the same time, the company pioneered the transition toward electronic timekeeping, introducing the world’s first quartz wristwatch in December 1969—an event that reshaped the course of modern watchmaking.
