The Rally is a chronograph developed specifically for racing drivers and is considered a classic, also produced by French makers such as Le Jour. This particular piece is a first-generation model from the mid-1960s, housed in a stainless steel case with a black tachymeter bezel. The crown, engineered for both water resistance and ease of use, reflects the functional beauty of the era. Rounded chronograph pushers and a screw-down caseback further emphasize its purpose-built design. The striking twin red stripes on the classic racing dial, combined with the highly regarded Valjoux 7734 movement, create a watch that is both practical and full of character. It comes with its original leather strap and buckle.
The fact that the original strap remains in such excellent condition suggests that the watch has seen little to no use. The case is well-proportioned overall, with smooth, flowing lines from the lugs to the case sides. Although bezels are typically prone to wear, this one shows no paint loss and remains in great shape. The dial is clean, with crisp printing and well-preserved luminous material. This watch retains rare original components such as the bezel and crown, faithfully maintaining its factory configuration. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our workshop.
Founded in 1948, Yema is a French watchmaker known for its forward-thinking approach to sports watches, developed primarily for professional use. This model is famously associated with Mario Andretti’s historic victory at the 1969 Indianapolis 500, where it is said to have been worn. A watch of both historical significance and bold design, it continues to captivate both chronograph enthusiasts and motorsport aficionados alike.
