COMMENT

サントスはベゼルとブレスレットに入ったビスモチーフがシグニチャーなモデル。ラウンドモデルはスクエアモデルに比べ、よりエレガントな印象です。ダイヤルは発色の良いエナメル質のホワイトにローマ数字を配したカルティエらしいフェイスです。艶のあるブラックプリントとブルースチール針が盤面で輝きます。カボジョンリューズは貴石を配して入るものの、スポーツモデルらしく8角のスタイリッシュな造形です。ボックスが付属します。

ケースは傷が見られず、清潔感にあふれたコンディションです。ダイヤルはミントです。カルティエのエナメル質なダイヤルに見られるクラックがなく、高ポイントです。針やインデックスは比較的輝き、トータルコンディションに優れた一品です。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

1900年代、飛行士サントス・デュモンが飛行中に時刻を確認できるようカルティエにオーダーしたのが「サントス」の始まり。クォーツモデルですので、巻き上げの必要がなく扱いやすさに長けた逸品。

BRAND

現在ではジュエラーとして名高いカルティエだが、まだ懐中時計が主流だった1904年に本格的な腕時計を製作したのはカルティエが最初であった。アルベルト・サントス・デュモンという飛行家からの「飛行中に手を離さずに見ることができる時計がほしい。」という依頼が誕生のきっかけで、「サントス（SANTOS）」の名を冠した腕時計が1911年に一般発売された。

COMMENT

The Santos is characterized by the motif of screws embedded in the bezel and bracelet, making it a signature model. Compared to the square model, the round model exudes a more elegant impression. The dial, in a vibrant enamel-like white, adorned with Roman numerals, reflects Cartier's distinctive style. Glossy black prints and blue steel hands gleam on the dial. The cabochon crown, adorned with a precious stone, features a sporty yet stylish octagonal design. It comes with a box.

The case shows no signs of scratches, presenting a pristine condition. The dial is in mint condition, with no cracks typical of Cartier's enamel dials, which is a notable highlight. The hands and indexes retain their shine relatively well, making it an excellent piece overall. It has undergone disassembly and cleaning at our facility.

In the early 1900s, aviator Santos-Dumont ordered a timepiece from Cartier to be able to check the time while flying, which marked the beginning of the "Santos" line. Being a quartz model, it offers convenience without the need for winding.

BRAND

Cartier, now renowned as a jeweler, was the first to create a genuine wristwatch in 1904, a time when pocket watches were still prevalent. The request from aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont for a timepiece that could be checked during flight without taking hands off the controls sparked the creation of the Santos watch. Named after him, the "Santos" wristwatch was released to the public in 1911.
