COMMENT

The understated matte ivory dial is paired with slender bar indexes, narrow pencil hands with tapered roots, and debossed pearl-drop minute markers—an elegantly simple yet refined combination. The case features delicate lugs that lend a graceful appearance, while the domed case back reflects the boldness of IWC’s early generation automatic watches. A hallmark is engraved on the underside of the 5 o’clock lug.

Inside beats IWC’s in-house Caliber 853, equipped with the brand’s signature Pellaton winding system. This claw-based bidirectional winding mechanism is renowned for its efficiency and durability, and remains highly respected even today. The distinct winding sound, reminiscent of rolling beads, is a hallmark of this movement.

The case is in excellent condition with minimal wear and no dents on the upper surface. The original fish-signed crown remains intact. The dial retains its original tone and texture and is highly regarded. The hands show minor patina but maintain a composed presence, while the mirror-polished indexes remain bright and crisp. The luminous paint on the hands and indexes has aged to an attractive beige tone. Fully disassembled and serviced by our workshop.
