IWC Ref.4179 features a square case in solid 18K yellow gold, fully finished in a bark texture, paired with a glossy onyx dial. The finely engraved surface creates rich light and shadow across the case, heightening the contrast with the flat black dial. The minimalist layout omits hour markers entirely, leaving only sharply defined dauphine hands to emphasize the purity of material. Rather than mirror-polished, the hands are rendered in a delicate brushed finish, quietly echoing the bark-textured case. Even the crown, set with a black cabochon, adheres to a unified aesthetic.

The bark-finished case retains strong dimensional definition, with minimal softening to the engraved texture. The gold tone remains deep and balanced.
