1964年の東京オリンピックに合わせて販売された「ワールドタイム」は、当時の聖火マークが裏蓋に刻印された記念モデルです。都会的な爽やかさを備えたワールドタイムは、現行品では頻繁に見かけますが、アンティークの中ではあまり見られない機構を持っています。

操作方法は、インナーベゼルを操作して現在地の地名を黒いGMT針（24時間で盤面上を一回転する針）の先に移動させることです。これにより、世界各国の時刻が一目で確認できます。インナーベゼルは時刻に連動して動かないため、確認の都度合わせる必要があります。リューズを0段引きでインナーベゼル合わせ、1段引きで日付合わせ、2段引きで時刻合わせを行います。手巻き機構は搭載されておらず、自動巻きのみで使用します。この世代のセイコーは精度が安定しているため、手巻きができなくても思いの外正確に稼働します。

ダイヤルはリネンダイアルの装飾がきちんと確認できる良い状態です。インデックスと針は艶感が残り充分光ります。 ケースは使用による小傷が見られますが、目立つような傷はありません。面取りされたフラットベゼルや、太いラグはエッジが効いており、裏蓋は聖火マークがきちんと確認できます。自動巻きの巻き上げ性能と、インナーベゼルのファンクションが同様に快調です。

2か国を表示するGMT機能はスポーツデザイン極致の意匠になりますが、打って変わって、世界中の地名が明記されたワールドタイムは、世界地図のような広い世界観を憶えます。適度な経年が味わい深く、息が詰まった時にふと手元を見ると、小旅行を思い起こさせるそんなひと品です。

Released to coincide with the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, the "World Time" model, featuring the emblematic Olympic torch engraved on the case back, stands as a commemorative piece. While modern iterations of the World Time watch are common, those with its unique mechanism are seldom seen among antique timepieces.

Its operation involves adjusting the inner bezel to align the name of the current location with the black GMT hand (a 24-hour hand that completes one rotation around the dial per day). This allows for instant verification of time across various countries. As the inner bezel doesn't move automatically, it needs to be adjusted each time. The crown operates in three positions: zero pull for adjusting the inner bezel, first pull for setting the date, and second pull for adjusting the time. It lacks manual winding, relying solely on automatic winding. Despite this, Seiko's precision from this era ensures accurate functionality even without manual winding.

The dial is in excellent condition, with the linen dial decoration clearly visible. Both the indices and hands retain their luster, reflecting light beautifully. While the case shows minor scratches from use, there are no prominent blemishes. The flat, beveled bezel and thick lugs maintain sharp edges, while the case back proudly displays the Olympic torch emblem. Both the automatic winding performance and the inner bezel function operate smoothly.

While the GMT function displaying two time zones embodies a sporty design aesthetic, the World Time, with its comprehensive list of global locations, evokes a sense of vastness akin to a world map. Its moderate aging adds depth of character, making it a reminiscent piece that transports one to memorable journeys with just a glance.
