1968年から製造され始めた5thモデル、Ref.145.022です。50年間作られたスピードマスターだからこそ、マイナーチェンジを繰り返した経緯があり、細かなディティールの変化を見つける楽しみがあります。こちらはケースバックにメダリオンを有しており、ダイヤルはロゴのrが下がっている通称「下がりr」が特徴です。装備しているブレスレットは1171/1、エンドリンク633番です。エンドリンク633番は他の年式でも多く見られる番号ですが、この個体は上面は大きく盛り上がり、裏側は隙間を覆うような設計です。ムーブメントはCal.861赤金メッキになります。

ケースは小さな打跡こそ見られますが、目立ったものではなく、当時のプロポーションを損なっていません。ケースバックには販売当時の青いノリが残っています。ベゼルは若干のダメージが見られるものの、ニアミントです。ダイヤルはミントコンディションです。ブラックダイアルの質感は均一に当時のままを残しています。トリチウムは完璧なベージュ焼けをしています。針夜光まで色味が揃っており、高ポイントです。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ48時間以上を計測しています。着用いただいてから出てくる症状もあるかと存じますが、一年間の作動保証をおつけしていますので安心してご使用いただけます。

時計が多く生産されなかった1980年代のRef.145.022の中でも、珍しい形状のエンドリンク633を採用しています。弊社の過去の取り扱い経験から推察するに、採用期間は極めて短いと判断しています。1970年代のステップダイヤル、1990年代の下がりrの廃止など、マイナーチェンジを繰り返したRef.145.022。1980年代は変化が見られないと思われていましたが、このような希少種を発掘でき、ディーラーとして興味深い一品です。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、初期の世代は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名なお話。

The 5th model introduced in 1968, Ref.145.022, marks the commencement of a 50-year production run for the Speedmaster. Given its enduring production, it underwent several minor changes over time, offering enthusiasts the pleasure of discovering subtle details. This particular model features a medallion on the case back and the characteristic "dropped R" in the logo. The bracelet attached is the 1171/1 with Endlink 633. While Endlink 633 is common in various models, this specimen exhibits a distinct design with a pronounced upper surface and a design that covers gaps on the back. It is powered by the red-gold-plated Cal.861 movement.

The case shows minor marks, not prominently noticeable, preserving the proportions of its era. The original blue adhesive from the time of sale remains on the case back. The bezel, while showing slight damage, is in near-mint condition. The dial is in mint condition, maintaining the consistent texture of the original black dial. The tritium has aged to a perfect beige hue, extending to the hands' luminosity, a notable feature. After our disassembly and cleaning, it has a confirmed power reserve of over 48 hours. While there may be symptoms that arise after wearing, we provide a one-year operational warranty for your peace of mind.

Among the Ref.145.022 from the less-produced 1980s, this model stands out for its rare Endlink 633 shape. Based on our past experiences, we infer that the adoption period for this feature was extremely brief. The Ref.145.022, known for its continuous minor changes like the step dial in the 1970s and the elimination of the dropped R in the 1990s, presents an intriguing piece from the 1980s where changes were believed to be absent.

Though the equation "Speedmaster equals space" is now ingrained, the initial generations were purely created for motorsports with no connection to space. The Speedmaster was the first watch globally to display a tachymeter on the outer bezel instead of the dial. In 1959, the Speedmaster underwent a minor change, transitioning the bezel base from aluminum to black and altering the hands from arrow to alpha shape, enhancing visibility. NASA, seeking a robust chronograph for the harsh space environment, chose the Speedmaster after triumphing over formidable competitors, making it the official watch. The famous story of the Speedmaster being worn during the first manned moon landing in 1969 further solidified its iconic status.
