50年間作られたスペードマスターだからこそ、マイナーチェンジを繰り返した経緯があり、細かなディティールの変化を見つける楽しみがあります。それがロングセラーの理由のひとつ。スピードマスターの中では製造期間の長い方であった5thですが、ステップダイアルを備えているものと拘ると年式がぐっと狭まります。立体感のあるダイヤルと、ツイストラグのコンビネーションはムーンウォッチでしか味わえない意匠です。ケースはユゲニン・フレアー（HF=Huguenin Freres）製。シリアルナンバーが296+++++、裏蓋の内側は-69と5th最初期の年式です。ハンサムな1171ブレスが付属するのも嬉しいポイント。アーカイブが付属します。

ケースは最低限の小傷で、オリジナルプロポーションが残っており大変高評価です。ツイストラグの複雑なエッジが立っております。スピードマスターによく見られるベゼルの剥がれが見られます。ブリーチ加工のような激しい模様は50年の歳月を十分に感じさせる迫力のあるエイジングです。半ツヤのブラックダイアルに目立った傷は見られません。２時位置に一点、粒状のエイジングが見られますがほとんど気にならず、ミントな質感です。光にかざすと表れるステップダイアルの陰影を最大限に楽しめます。レターや針のホワイトのプリントは色味がよく残っています。ルミナスはグレイッシュなエイジングです。針夜光は濃く焼けています。弊社にて分解掃除後、パワーリザーブは48時間以上を確認しております。当時のムーンウォッチをパワフルにお使いいただけます。ビデオにて作動している様子をご確認ください。

今でこそ「Speedmasterイコール宇宙」という図式がすぐに浮かび上がりますが、当時は宇宙とは全く関係のない、純粋なモータースポーツ用の時計として誕生。また、スピードマスターは、ダイヤルではなく外周ベゼルにタキメーターを表示した世界で初めての時計と言われています。1959年、スピードマスターはマイナーチェンジをします。ベゼルがアルミニウムの黒色ベースとなり、針の形状がアロー針からアルファ針に変更されたことで、より視認性が高まっています。NASAは宇宙での過酷な環境にも耐えうる丈夫なクロノグラフを探しており、名だたる強豪に勝ったスピードマスターを公式時計として採用。その後1969年人類初の月面着陸の際、スピードマスターを着用していたことは有名なお話。

The enduring appeal of the Speedmaster lies in its half-century of production, marked by numerous minor changes that offer enthusiasts the joy of discovering intricate details. This longevity is one of the reasons behind its iconic status. The 5th generation, produced over an extended period within the Speedmaster lineup, becomes a niche choice when focusing on those featuring a step dial. The combination of a three-dimensional dial and twisted lugs is a unique design only found in the Moonwatch collection. The case, manufactured by Huguenin Freres (HF=Huguenin Freres), bears the serial number 296+++++ and indicates an early -69 production year, capturing the essence of the 5th generation. The inclusion of the handsome 1171 bracelet and accompanying archives adds to the watch's appeal.

The case exhibits minimal scratches, retaining its original proportions, which are highly commendable. The intricate edges of the twisted lugs are well-preserved. Typical bezel wear, often observed in Speedmasters, is evident. The pronounced patterns resembling bleach treatment showcase an aging process that powerfully encapsulates the passage of 50 years. The semi-gloss black dial is remarkably free of noticeable scratches. A subtle aging spot is present at the 2 o'clock position, which is inconspicuous, contributing to the overall mint condition. The stepped dial's shadow play is maximized when viewed under light. The white print on the letters and hands is well-preserved in terms of color. The luminous material has acquired a grayish hue over the years. The hands' night luminescence has developed a rich patina. While the current association is "Speedmaster equals space," the Speedmaster was originally conceived as a pure motorsports watch with no connection to space. The Speedmaster holds the distinction of being the world's first watch to display a tachymeter on the outer bezel instead of the dial. In 1959, the Speedmaster underwent a minor change. The bezel transitioned to a black base made of aluminum, and the hands evolved from arrow-shaped to alpha-shaped, enhancing visibility. NASA sought a robust chronograph capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of space. The Speedmaster, triumphing over formidable competitors, was officially adopted by NASA.
