機械式時計最盛期、1969年製のデイデイトです。金無垢とプラチナのみで展開されているデイデイトは1956年の発表当時、日付と曜日を表示する世界初の防水性能を備えたクロノメーター自動巻時計でした。18金無垢のオイスターケースはフルーテッドベゼルの輝きが美しく、重厚感があります。ダイヤルは麻生地のようなテクスチャをしています。通常の放射状にヘアラインを引いたサンレイとはまた異なる輝きを見せます。輝きの強いダイヤルですので、インデックスには上面にブラックを配し、読時性を高めています。

ケースは程よく使用され、貫禄を増しています。7時のラグ裏のホールマークと18Kの刻印がしっかりと視認できるのがポイントです。ダイヤルはパーフェクトです。高倍率のルーペで除いても気になる点がなく、美しいコンディションで当時の仕上げをそのままに残しています。針とインデックスは上面の鏡面仕上げが美しく輝きます。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ48時間以上を確認しています。

リネンダイヤルは西洋人による南国への一種の憧れのような東洋趣味が感じられます。異文化の様式を取り入れ、当時としてはかなり挑戦的な試みだったのではないでしょうか。デイデイトはROLEXから35代目アメリカ大統領のアイゼンハワー氏に贈呈されたことを始め、現在でも最高のステータスウォッチとしての地位を確立しています。

This is a Day-Date model manufactured in 1969, during the peak era of mechanical watches. Introduced in 1956, the Day-Date was the world's first waterproof chronometer wristwatch to display both the date and day, available only in solid gold and platinum. Its 18k solid gold Oyster case with a fluted bezel exudes a beautiful shine and a sense of weightiness. The dial has a linen-like texture, distinct from the usual sunray finish, giving off a unique radiance. To enhance readability, black accents are added on the indexes against the dial's brilliant shine.

The case shows a moderate level of use, adding to its distinguished appearance. A key feature is the clearly visible hallmark and 18K stamp on the back of the lug at 7 o'clock. The dial is flawless, maintaining its beautiful finish from that era even under high magnification. The hands and indexes gleam beautifully with their mirror finish on the surface. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our company, confirming a power reserve of over 48 hours.

The linen dial reflects a certain Oriental taste, perhaps an exotic allure to the tropics perceived by Westerners. Incorporating styles from different cultures, it was a daring attempt for its time. The Day-Date, from being presented to the 35th President of the United States, Eisenhower, has maintained its position as the ultimate status watch even today.
