The Ref. 1603 stands as one of the more sport-oriented flagships within the Rolex Datejust line, distinguished by its engine-turned bezel. This example features a lustrous black mirror dial, where the gilt text reflects light like polished metal, offering a striking visual presence. As is characteristic of four-digit Datejust references, the dial’s outer edge is beveled, and here the indexes are sculpted with a cylindrical cut, adding depth and dimensionality. Compared to the fluted bezel of the Ref. 1601, the engraved bezel of the 1603 lends a more athletic, contemporary edge, a quality that has kept this reference highly sought after across generations. The watch comes fitted with a Jubilee bracelet featuring a stepped clasp dated 71/3 and end links marked 55.
