BWC(Buttes Watch Company)(ビュートウォッチカンパニー)は70年代にはレマニアムーブを用いた自動巻クロノグラフの販売を手掛けるなど活躍していたようです。Swissのメーカーは星の数ほどある中で、裾野を広げた多くのメーカーが活躍し、市場を盛り上げていました。50年代のこちらの品をご覧ください。手の込んだツートンダイアルは、幾重にもサークルラインに囲まれ、ANCH-CHOCが誇らしげです。「WASSERDICHT」はドイツ語の「耐水」を意味します。夜光アラビアのインデックスに夜光の針が角型ドレスの中にスポーウォッチの要素を融合させようとしていることが窺えます。

バンドはバネ棒を使用しないパリスカンです。

ムーブメントの固定方式が複雑で、二重ケース仕様です。内ケースをバネで支えることで常に力を掛け、防水性の向上を狙い固定するとともに、衝撃を吸収しようとしています。また、耐震装置(インカブロック)付きのムーブメントを搭載し、角型でありながらスポーツウォッチ仕様に仕立られた意欲作と言えるでしょう。ケースのメッキにキズが見られますが、当時の仕上げがそのまま残されたコンディションです。

The BWC (Buttes Watch Company) seems to have thrived in the 1970s, particularly with the sale of automatic chronographs using Lemania movements. Among the multitude of Swiss manufacturers, BWC was one of many that expanded the horizons and enlivened the market. Let's take a look at this piece from the 1950s. The intricate two-tone dial, encircled by multiple concentric rings, proudly displays "ANCH-CHOC." "WASSERDICHT" translates to "water-resistant" in German. The combination of luminescent Arabic numerals and angular hands within a dress watch hints at a fusion of dress and sporty elements.

The band is a Parisian-style strap that doesn't use spring bars.

The movement fixing mechanism is complex, featuring a double-case design. By supporting the inner case with springs, constant pressure is applied to improve water resistance and absorb shocks.
