クラシカルでもあり未来的でもある40 mm径のステンレススティールケースを持つ Ref.562‑42。1970年代デザインのディスコボランテケースは、ケース上面はフラットで縦ヘアライン仕上げ、鏡面部はすり鉢状に斜傾した、大変ユニークな造形です。ラグはなく、リューズは隠れるように配置されています。ダイヤルは縦ヘアライン仕上げ。視認性の高い梨地と鏡面の切り替えのインデックス、夜光塗料とブラックプリントを施した針と1970年代の王道とも言えるバランスです。自社製Cal.883を搭載。日付のクイックチェンジを採用しており、23時と0時の往復で送ります。

ケースは小キズこそ見られるものの、痩せのないオリジナルプロポーション。ケースバックの刻印が残っています。ダイヤルはミントで、やけのないシルバーが印象を引き締めています。針やアプライドのロゴは上面のメッキに剥がれが見られず、キラキラと輝いています。夜光塗料は欠けの見られない、理想的なコンディションです。弊社にて整備済みです。

60年代後期からは機械式時計が完成の域に達したことで、外装デザインの世界に柔らかな感性の領域を広げ、新しい装飾性をもたらしました。ラグがなく、ドーム型のプラスチック風防により、まるで円盤が浮かんでいるかのような印象を与えるユニークなケースデザインは、当時「ディスコ・ボランテ」「UFO」等の愛称で親しまれていました。当時としては未来的とも言える大胆な表現は、さぞかし珍重されたことでしょう。

＜JAEGER LE COULTRE（ジャガー・ルクルト）＞は、現在も個性的なモデルを数多く製造し続けるマニュファクチュール。かつては、他の名門メーカー（ヴァシュロン・コンスタンタン、オーデマピゲ、パテックフィリップ、カルティエ等）にもムーブメントやパーツ等のエボーシュを供給していました。始まりは1183年、スイスの小さな工房から。「科学によって立つ」という信念のもと、信頼ある機械・製造ラインを作ることに力を入れ、時計の中心地であったスイスで、高級ブランドに時計の機械・部品製造の先端を行く供給元に成長しました。＜レベルソ＞を代表する自社ブレンドモデルなど、現在では数少ない自社生産のマニファクチュールブランドです。

COMMENT

Ref. 562‑42 features a 40 mm stainless steel case that feels both classical and futuristic. Its “Disco Volante”-style case, a signature of 1970s design, is flat on the top with a vertical brushed finish, while the polished sides slope inward in a concave, saucer-like form. It has no visible lugs, and the crown is recessed, hidden from view. The dial also features a vertical brushed finish, complemented by high-visibility indexes with alternating matte and polished textures. The hands combine luminous fill with black print, embodying the quintessential aesthetic of the 1970s. It is powered by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s in-house Cal. 883, which offers a semi-quickset date function via a forward-and-backward motion between 11 PM and midnight.

While the case shows light surface wear, it retains a sharp and full profile with no signs of over-polishing. The serial number on the caseback remains deep and legible. The dial shows subtle aging near the corners, but given that this is a non-water-resistant model from the era, the overall condition is excellent. The applied logo and hands show no flaking on their plating, maintaining a brilliant shine. The movement has been serviced in-house, and a power reserve of 46 hours has been confirmed.

In the late 1960s, as mechanical watchmaking reached its technical peak, designers began to explore more expressive aesthetics, resulting in a new wave of ornamental innovation. The lugless case and domed acrylic crystal lend this watch the appearance of a floating disc—an iconic silhouette affectionately nicknamed “Disco Volante” or “UFO” in its time. Its futuristic and daring design must have been truly cherished by those with a keen eye for the avant-garde.
