防水ケース仕様の2カウンタークロノ、エテルナのご紹介です。Valjoux22を搭載していますので、ケースが大きく迫力があります。ROLEXのバブルバック等で用いられた、旧式の耐震装置を備えており、メーカーの力の入れようが伺えます。ダイアルは、アラビア夜光にスポーツ感がありますが、外周に幅の広い青テレメーターが配され、すっきりとした印象です。ダイアルカラーはパールホワイトが経年変化しています。時分針の独特な形状は、エテルナらしい意匠で、他のモデルにも見ることができます。

ケースは過去の仕上げが見られますが、裏蓋外のシリアルナンバーがきちんと確認できる程度です。ダイアルは淡く焼けが見られますが、目立った傷の無い自然な状態です。防水ケースによるものでしょうか、機械が素晴らしくきれいです。Valjoux22は入水によりメッキが劣化がした機械が多いですが、こちらは驚くほど良いコンディションです。40時間のパワーリザーブと1日あたり＋6秒の精度をテストで確認しています。

クロノグラフは機械で選ぶのも一興です。比較的手の出しやすいエテルナで、状態の良いバルジュー22を手にできるのは、なかなか良いのではないでしょうか。38mm程の大きな防水ケースクロノは、入手の壁が意外に高く、こちらのお品はお勧めです。

言わずと知れたトップムーブメントValjoux22を搭載。Valljoux23の前駆キャリバーとして、製造されており、わかりやすい違いはサイズです。22は一回り大きく、おのずと大きいケースになります。プッシュボタンを押す指の力でリセットハンマーを駆動する為応用しやすく、フライバックモデルCal.222やワンプッシュモデルなど多彩なバリエーションがあります。多くのメーカーで採用され、軍物などにも散見する機械は、信頼と長年作られた実績を伴っています。

Sporting an older style shock absorber similar to those used in ROLEX bubble backs, reflecting the manufacturer's dedication. The dial exudes a sporty feel with luminescent Arabic numerals, complemented by a wide blue telemeter scale around the periphery, presenting a clean impression. The dial color has aged to a subtle pearl white hue. The unique shape of the hour and minute hands is a distinctive Eterna design seen across various models.

The case shows signs of previous refinishing, although the serial number on the case back is clearly legible. The dial displays a gentle patina but remains in natural condition without significant scratches. The machine work is exceptionally clean, likely due to the waterproof case. While many Valjoux 22 movements suffer from deterioration due to water ingress, this one is in surprisingly good condition. It has been tested to ensure a power reserve of 40 hours and an accuracy of +6 seconds per day.

Choosing a chronograph based on its movement is an enriching experience. Acquiring a well-maintained Valjoux 22 in a relatively accessible Eterna piece is quite appealing. Chronographs with large waterproof cases around 38mm can be challenging to acquire, making this piece highly recommended.
