クッションケースを採用したBREITLING TOP TIME Ref.2211。防水ケースにスクリューバック、ラウンドプッシャーを備え、当時のスポーツクロノグラフらしい機能的なディテールが揃います。ダイヤルはシルバーのサンバーストにブラックのインダイヤルを組み合わせたパンダ配色で、赤いクロノグラフ針が表情を引き締める構成です。外周にはUPH表記のタキメーターを配し、赤字のBASE 15 PULSATIONSによるパルスメーターが併記され、計測機器としての緊張感が明確に打ち出されています。

本品はNEW OLD STOCKで、ケースバックには販売当時のシールが残っています。ケースは輪郭が整い、保管由来の微細な擦れが見られる程度で、全体の印象を損なう要素は目立ちません。ダイヤルは清潔感のある状態を保ち、針やインデックスの見え方も良好です。当時のオリジナルストラップとバックルが付属します。NOS個体のため、これまで過去に分解清掃は行われておらず、弊社でもあえて行っていません。ご希望に応じて、別途費用にて分解清掃を承ります。

搭載ムーブメントは手巻きクロノグラフのValjoux 7730。カム式クロノグラフの代表的な系譜に属し、当時の実用機として広く採用されたことで知られます。トップタイムは、ブライトリングが若い世代へ向けて提案したラインとして、計測性を軸にしながらデザインで時代の空気を取り込んだ点が魅力です。未使用の状態で当時の要素がまとまって残る個体は、コンディションの良さに留まらず、保管状態そのものが価値として立ち上がる存在です。

1884年、スイスのサン・ティミエに複雑時計製作の工房が設立されたのが＜BREITLING＞のルーツ。創業者のレオン・ブライトリングはクロノグラフ製作の才能に富み、博覧会では数々の賞を受賞、その名を世間に知らしめました。彼はエンジン飛行機が発展途上であった頃から航空産業の発展を確信し、飛行機のための時計や計器メーカーとして航空産業を支える意志を示しました。その意志を受け継いだ2代目ガストン・ブライトリングは世界初の腕時計型クロノグラフを開発するなど航空産業に多大な貢献をしています。“クロノグラフのスペシャリスト”として確固たる地位を築いた＜BREITLING＞は、今なお世界中で愛されている名門ブランドとして発展し続けています。

COMMENT

The BREITLING TOP TIME Ref. 2211 features a cushion-shaped case, paired with a waterproof construction, screw-back case, and round pushers—functional details that clearly reflect the character of a period sports chronograph. The dial adopts a panda configuration, combining a silver sunburst base with black subdials, while the red chronograph seconds hand sharpens the overall expression. Along the outer edge, a tachymeter scaled in UPH is printed, accompanied by a pulsation scale marked “BASE 15 PULSATIONS” in red, reinforcing the watch’s tension and clarity as a measuring instrument.

This example is offered in New Old Stock condition, with the original sales sticker still intact on the case back. The case retains clean, well-defined lines, showing only minimal storage-related hairlines that do not detract from its overall presence. The dial remains crisp and fresh, with excellent legibility of the hands and indexes. The original strap and buckle from the period are included. As an NOS piece, the watch has never been disassembled or serviced in the past, and we have intentionally left it untouched. Servicing can be arranged at additional cost upon request.

The watch is powered by the hand-wound Valjoux 7730 chronograph movement, a representative cam-operated caliber widely adopted as a dependable workhorse of its era. The Top Time line was conceived by Breitling as a proposal for a younger generation, balancing strong legibility and functionality with a design that captured the spirit of its time. An unused example that preserves its original components so cohesively offers value beyond condition alone, with the quality of its long-term storage emerging as a defining element of its appeal.

Breitling traces its origins to 1884, when a workshop dedicated to complicated watchmaking was established in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Its founder, Léon Breitling, was highly gifted in chronograph construction and earned numerous awards at international exhibitions, bringing widespread recognition to the name. From an early stage, he foresaw the growth of aviation and committed to supporting the industry through the production of timepieces and instruments for aircraft. His vision was carried forward by his son Gaston Breitling, who made significant contributions to aviation history, including the development of the world’s first wrist-worn chronograph. Having firmly established its reputation as a “chronograph specialist,” Breitling continues to be recognized worldwide as a prestigious manufacture with a lasting legacy.
