1951年製のインター。アラビアとクサビを組み合わせたフェイスは、1950年代の実用を重視した読時し易い意匠です。針はドルフィン。ダイヤル外周のパールドロップのミニッツは5分ごとにサイズ感を変え、読時のしやすさだけでなく華やかさを演出しています。寄り目と呼ばれる、日付が内側に寄ったデザインをしています。寄り目でカレンダー枠が小さいため、主張が控えめでスッキリとした印象です

ケースはエッジの効いた良いシェイプです。ベゼルのエッジや、ラグのカッティングはオリジナル同様のプロポーション、鏡面とヘアライン仕上げがしっかりと分かれています。古い年式ですので、ダイヤルは若干の経年が見られます。針やインデックスに、気になるような劣化は出ていません。弊社にて分解掃除済みです。

薄い自動巻きを作ることに心血を注いだインターですが、デイト付きモデルは文字盤にふくらみを付け飛び出させることで、ケース側面の厚みを薄く見せています。反対にノンデイトのモデルでは、多くがフラットに近い文字盤を使用しているのはそのためです。ブランドの掲げてきた挑戦の歴史を知った上で着用する。細かいデザインに説明がつくと、理解するたびに時計への愛が深まります。

IWCのCal.85系自動巻きムーブメントは、独自機構のペラトン式を採用しています。巻き上げの際には、ビーズを転がすような音色を鳴らします。その音量は他社製品と比べて、明らかに大きいことが特徴となっています。

アメリカマサチューセッツ州ボストン出身の時計師、フロレンタイン・アリオスト・ジョーンズが1868年に創立したのが始まり。特徴的なデザインで今なお世界中で人気を誇る「パイロット・ウォッチ」コレクションなど、多くの人気シリーズを発売。磁気から時計を守る為の軟鉄製インナーケースや、IWC独自の"ぺラトン式"と呼ばれる両回転式自動巻機構はあまりに有名。

This 1951 IWC watch combines Arabic numerals and wedge indices, reflecting the practical and easy-to-read designs of the 1950s. The dauphine hands add to its vintage charm. The dial's outer edge features pearl drop minute markers that vary in size every five minutes, enhancing both legibility and elegance. The "inset eyes" design, where the date window is placed towards the center, offers a sleek and unobtrusive look.

The case retains its sharp edges and good shape, with the bezel and lugs exhibiting original proportions. The mirror and hairline finishes are distinctly separated, showcasing excellent craftsmanship. Despite its age, the dial only shows slight signs of aging, and the hands and indices are free from significant deterioration. It has been serviced and cleaned by our company.

IWC's dedication to crafting thin automatic watches is evident in this model. The date version features a domed dial to maintain a slim case profile, whereas the non-date models typically have flatter dials. Understanding the brand's historical challenges and design choices can deepen one's appreciation for the watch.
