COMMENT

重厚なケースに張り出したリューズガードを備える、150m防水仕様のセカンドダイバー。ベゼルの数字やバーインデックスは大きく設計され、海中での視認性を意識した構成となっています。針とインデックスは夜光塗料で縁取られ、暗所での判読性に配慮された仕上がりです。ムーブメントはCal.6105Aをベースにハック機能を追加したCal.6105Bを搭載しています。

ケース上部に軽度の打痕が確認できます。ラグのエッジやヘアラインは明瞭に残り、当時のフォルムを良好に維持しています。リューズに使用に伴う傷が見られますが、動作への影響はありません。ダイヤルに目立つ汚れや傷はなく、ロゴと針にわずかなサビが見られるものの、全体の印象を損なうものではありません。針とインデックスの夜光はホワイトの色味を保ち、整ったコンディションです。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

Ref.6105-8000は、セイコー150mダイバーのセカンドモデルに位置付けられ、後期型Ref.6105-8110、通称「植村ダイバー」と並び語られる存在です。後期型に見られる力強いケース造形とは異なり、こちらは柔らかなCラインを描くケースが特徴で、リューズにロック機構を備えない初期設計ならではの構造が確認できます。1960年代後半、セイコーが機械式時計の完成度を高めながら世界的評価を確立していった時代背景を体現するモデルであり、国産ヴィンテージダイバーの流れを語る上で欠かせない一本です。

1960年代は、機械式腕時計は完成期とも言えるほどの発展を遂げた時期で、セイコーは精度コンクールの分野でも量産の分野でも、世界に追いつき、追いぬいた時代であった。同時に、「時計の電子化」が進展し、1969（昭和44）年12月にセイコーが世界初のクオーツ（水晶）腕時計を発売することにより、機械式腕時計からクオーツ腕時計へと大きく舵を切ろうとする時期でもあった。

COMMENT

The second-generation Seiko diver with 150 m water resistance features a substantial case and prominent crown guards. Oversized numerals on the bezel and bold bar indexes emphasize underwater legibility, while the hands and markers are framed with luminous material to ensure clarity even in low-light environments. The watch is powered by the Cal.6105B, an evolution of the Cal.6105A with the addition of a hacking mechanism.

A light impact mark is visible on the upper part of the case. Even so, the lugs retain sharp edges and well-defined brushing, preserving the original profile of the watch. The crown shows minor wear consistent with use, though functionality remains unaffected. The dial is free of noticeable blemishes; the logo and hands display slight oxidation, but nothing that detracts from the overall impression. The luminous material on both the hands and indexes retains a clean white tone and presents in well-balanced condition. Fully serviced by our watchmaker.

Ref.6105-8000 represents the second generation of Seiko’s 150 m divers and is often referenced alongside the later Ref.6105-8110—the so-called “Uemura Diver.” Unlike the later model’s robust, muscular form, this early version is characterized by a softer C-line case and the absence of a crown-locking system, reflecting its earlier engineering. As a product of the late 1960s, it embodies the period in which Seiko refined its mechanical capabilities and solidified its international reputation, making it an essential reference in the lineage of vintage Japanese dive watches.

The 1960s marked a golden era for mechanical watchmaking, during which Seiko rose to global prominence—both in precision competitions and in mass production—ultimately surpassing many established Swiss manufacturers. At the same time, the industry was shifting toward electronic technology, culminating in Seiko’s release of the world’s first quartz wristwatch in December 1969. This period stands as a pivotal chapter in Seiko’s history, bridging the peak of mechanical innovation and the dawn of quartz technology.
