The grey dial features a day display at 12 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock. Around the perimeter, a minute track is printed in fine 0.2-second increments. The hands are bar-style with a sharp central ridge and luminous tips for enhanced visibility. The hour markers are bar indexes with white center printing, and luminous dots in a hemispherical shape are positioned along the outer edge. The watch is fitted with a folded link bracelet, Ref. 7836, paired with 382 end links. The clasp lacks a date code, suggesting a production period around 1974–75.
The case remains in excellent overall condition, with the chamfer between the case sides and lugs still clearly defined, highlighting its sharp profile. The sunburst finish on the dial is beautifully preserved with minimal signs of aging. The hands exhibit only minimal oxidation and retain a mirror-like polish. While a small amount of rust can be seen on the hour markers, they still retain their luster. The luminous material on both the hands and indexes has aged to an attractive beige tone. The watch has been fully disassembled and serviced by our workshop.
This Tudor model draws clear inspiration from the Rolex Day-Date, particularly in its layout, but its distinct flat surfaces and robust proportions reveal the brand’s unique design language. For many years, Tudor lacked official distribution in Japan, but since its relaunch under the "TUDOR" name in October 2018, the brand has seen renewed energy and global attention. With its historical connection to Rolex and its rising modern appeal, Tudor is undeniably a brand to watch.
BRAND
TUDOR was established in the 1930s as a diffusion brand of ROLEX. While ROLEX initially faced challenges due to high production costs and limited brand awareness, TUDOR offered similarly reliable manufacturing at a more affordable price, making it accessible to a broader audience. Ironically, it was the popularity of TUDOR that helped elevate ROLEX’s profile, ultimately positioning it as the globally recognized luxury brand it is today.
