COMMENT

1950年代スポーツウォッチの典型ともいえる本モデルは、夜光アラビア数字と24時間表記を備えた高い視認性のデザインが特徴です。計器を思わせるフェイスに加え、ケースは一見カラトラバのような端正な印象を持ちながら、側面には風を切るような流線型の造形が施されており、ゼニスならではの個性を感じさせます。また、スクリューバック式の防水ケースはスポーツモデルらしい堅牢さを備えており、当時の実用性の高さがうかがえます。33mm程度のケースサイズは非常に扱いやすく、デイリーユースに適しています。

ケースは使用傷が少なく、良好な状態を保っています。裏蓋のヘアラインは鮮明で、ラグ周りに傷が見られない点も好印象です。ダイヤルはこの世代のスポーツウォッチとしては、ミントです。ブラックミラーの一部に色味の変化が見られるものの、艶を保っており、ヴィンテージらしい味わいを醸しています。針にはややサビが見られるものの、かえってクラシカルな印象を際立たせています。夜光塗料はベージュに変化し、自然な経年変化が魅力です。弊社にて分解清掃済みです。

裏蓋には、この時計の性能を示す刻印がびっしりと施されています。耐衝撃装置「インカブロック」の搭載を意味する“Stötsäker（スウェーデン語で耐震）”、スクリューバック構造による“WATERPROOF（耐水）”、さらに二重蓋による“ANTIMAGNETIC（耐磁）”など、あらゆる環境に対応する仕様が揃っています。当時の技術力を結集して製造されたこの一本は、スウェーデン市場向けに輸出されたゼニスの代表的モデルの一つとして、今なお輝きを放ちます。

COMMENT

A quintessential example of a 1950s sports watch, this model features excellent legibility with luminous Arabic numerals and a full 24-hour track. The instrument-like dial design is paired with a case that, while reminiscent of a Calatrava in its restrained elegance, incorporates aerodynamic lines along the sides—subtle yet distinctive details that reflect Zenith’s unique design language. The screw-back case ensures water resistance, underscoring the model’s robust, utilitarian character. With a case diameter of approximately 33mm, it offers exceptional wearability for daily use.

The case remains in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. The hairline finish on the caseback is crisp, and the lugs are free of noticeable scratches—an especially favorable point. For a sports watch of this generation, the dial is remarkably well-preserved. While there is some tonal shift in the black mirror finish, it retains its gloss, giving the watch a tasteful vintage presence. The hands exhibit light oxidation, which enhances the classical aesthetic. The luminous material has naturally aged to a warm beige, adding further charm. This piece has been disassembled and cleaned by our team.

The caseback is densely engraved with technical designations that attest to the watch’s durability. “Stötsäker” (Swedish for shockproof) refers to the Incabloc shock protection system; “WATERPROOF” denotes the screw-back construction; and “ANTIMAGNETIC” highlights the inner dust and magnetic shield—all features tailored for demanding environments. Engineered for the Swedish market, this model stands as a shining example of Zenith’s mid-century technological achievements and enduring appeal.

Zenith, renowned for its legendary El Primero movement, was founded in 1865 in Le Locle, Switzerland. The brand name, derived from the term "zenith" (meaning the highest point), reflects its commitment to excellence. As a true manufacture, Zenith designs and produces its movements entirely in-house.
